Return. The so-called "latent tendencies" refer to the afflictions of the three realms, namely, the desire for existence, views, pride, doubt, ignorance, desire for sensual pleasures, and anger. Or it is the aspect of ignorance, because it is referring to what is unwholesome. The words "bhikshu" and so on refer to what is taught here, which is a concise explanation of that meaning. "Who is the one with discipline" and so on. A god asked, "Who should be called a bhikshu? Who should be called a meditator? Who desires yoga? Here, please tell me who is happy?" This is the answer to his question. Whoever has pure discipline, that is who should be called a bhikshu, not others. Discipline is completely pure also because one does not transgress what is learned after reflection, and in order to eliminate afflictions, and in order to diligently engage in meditation such as mindfulness, and it can be known from completely dedicating oneself to nirvana. In order to accomplish the cause of the limbs of discipline, therefore it is taught as "pure discipline." Or, it is in order to completely uphold the vows of individual liberation, meditation, and the unpolluted discipline. Corresponding to that, one becomes an inferior, intermediate, and superior bhikshu. "Emptiness possessed is meditation," which means that wherever someone has the samadhi of emptiness, that becomes complete meditation. Emptiness refers to emptiness of self, which is expressed by the phrase "emptiness refers to emptiness of self," because realizing the reality of all things as they are is selflessness. Because one meditates through this, it is meditation, and through the mind of equanimity, one can see things as they are, which is expressed by this phrase. Having the way to manifest it is meditation. The self that is imputed by others does not exist, and one's own state is also selflessness, which is equality. Wherever there is attachment to self and so on, that is not a meditator, because that meditation is produced by distorted conceptualization. "Constant practice is yoga," for the meditation that has already been taught, in order to correctly guide the word "constant." "Nirvana is happiness," which refers to where the pacification of all suffering is attained.

E is the meaning of true happiness, Nirvana. Even a wise person who is mostly free from distractions experiences great happiness here, so what need is there to mention someone who has become free from all distracting things? The nature of a Bhikshu has been shown from many aspects, and now it is to guide him to accumulate merits. The so-called 'Bhikshu likes and dislikes' etc., means that, Bhikshus, here, someone completely abandons the harm to the aggregates, whether small or large. Similarly, abandoning the gathering of relatives. After he renounces, he is content with the Dharma robes worn on his body, and content with the alms that only fill his stomach, he has the nature of enduring and abiding, and can also endure cold and heat, from 'also' to 'here' it is said like this. Dislike is displeasure, here it refers to the anger that corresponds to it. Like is pleasure, here it refers to the desire that corresponds to it. Because it is dislike and like, it is like and dislike. Not distinguishing is to rebuke and suppress, because of rebuking anger and subsequent attachment, so this shows special patience. With the words 'Patience is the highest asceticism'. It shows that by the power of solitude one can enter into patience, that is, one always relies on remote dwellings. The so-called 'remote dwellings are often relied upon' etc., means that living in and relying on a very solitary place, this shows the solitude of the body, and speaks of the solitude of the mind. That is, 'He always abides with caution', that is, he abides by making the impure mind in the remote dwelling and practicing it as the most excellent. In order to show entering from the perspective of action, it is said 'He can well remove the desire for existence'. That is, it is said that the subtle growth of desire etc. that accomplishes the three existences does not arise, and it is removed from the root by the opposing force and abides there. The subtle growth of removing the desire for existence should be summarized, that is, the word 'removing' should be deleted. Or, this verse shows the four noble lineages, with 'Bhikshu likes and dislikes' etc. showing that they are only satisfied with coarse Dharma robes and alms. With 'remote dwellings' etc.,
