It is liberation. Thus, it explains the benefits of seeing the Dharma by obtaining the cessation of suffering, and so on. How did the great son of Maudgalyayana, Gutaśikhika, have his body severely beaten? At that time, Brahmins and faithful householders came and asked, 'Has your mind not been shaken by this?' The monk replied, 'No.' From then on, for that meaning, six verses were spoken. 'Like mountains' means the earth-holder. If it is formed from the earth? The answer is, 'Rock,' which means the nature of stone. 'Wind' means the cause of the red wind. 'Like unmoving' means not shaking. 'Likewise' means in that way. Because of the exhaustion of desire, the monk is not led astray and does not change. 'Mountains, or like mountains.' The verse has already explained the above example, so why say it here again? It is explained that it is because of the extensive explanation and the combination of what has just been explained in a concise way. For example, like explaining the road to a charioteer, and so on. Or, in order to benefit future disciples by showing examples. Or, what is the characteristic of a monk? It is taught that a monk, although having the cause of change, does not change. Or, the mountain is like the snow mountain, for example, the snow mountain flows down from a high place, and the flow of rivers clearly increases, with forests full of pleasing flowers and fruits, countless kinds of mountain animals and birds dwelling nearby, and becoming the basis of various medicines, likewise, from the height of the superior intention of liberation, the streams of meditation such as loving-kindness, which are constantly accumulated through effort, the assembly of those who freely play in samadhi, is the place where the hopes of impoverished beings are fulfilled, and the wisdom to benefit others in various ways will arise. In order to show that the pride of 'I am' has been abandoned, 'To whom' and so on are spoken. The venerable Upamarda makes the monk...

What is there to mock? The noble Bakula is the best of givers, so he can endure, because he controls himself. "To whom" refers to sentient beings. "Without everything" means without wealth and grain, etc., because there is no proximity to wealth and grain, etc., so there is no complete grasping. "To whom there is no possession" means there is no excessive attachment that precedes possession, because there is nothing to be abandoned by seeing. "Without what, one does not grieve" means that without the aggregates, one will not suffer sorrow, because of the words, "For him, what will be without, and for me also will be without." Separated from desired objects, even if one loses or does not obtain them due to destruction, etc., that person will not grieve or mourn completely. Because one has abandoned what should be abandoned through meditation. "That is a monk" means that that person is worthy of the name of a monk. Or, there are three kinds of monks: the goodness of an ordinary person, the abandonment of anger, and liberation from existence, which are indicated by these three verses. Other monks are monks of the desire realm, etc. Why is the fourth not mentioned? Here it is said, "For a while, just begging from others." This indicates that if someone asks whether the term "monk" refers to someone who just begs and stands at the door, then a monk is one who has fully entered, referring to the two verses spoken by the householder Anathapindika. "Not for a while" means just that, just begging from others, just begging for robes, etc., from others. "Village Dharma" means that because it is the village itself, it is the village. "Dharma" refers to things, because they are things that are grasped and not grasped. "The holder" refers to what is connected with the complete holding of the monks. Whenever someone holds a large amount of robes, etc., the Blessed One teaches the discernment of robes, in order to protect the precepts that have been established. Ga

If one still practices the Dharma of a householder, that is not right. Merely begging, that is, holding the guise of a bhikṣu, staying close to begging, closely enjoying all desirable qualities, how could one become a bhikṣu with such ease? That is what it means. Even by merely fully assuming the guise. That is what is said. Moreover, because this word "moreover" has been removed. Therefore, if one completely abandons the Dharma of a householder, then one will become a bhikṣu, to show this, it is said, "Whichever," and so on. Whichever, that is, to whichever one. Virtue is the fruit of existence. Sin is the undesirable fruit. The word "and" is to accomplish that both should be abandoned together. "Completely abandoned" means completely relinquished. This shows the collection of paths, showing the path. Possessing pure conduct means conduct for the sake of purity. Whatever makes the noble path that attains nirvāṇa special, that is it itself. To show that abandoning all faults of the path depends on cultivating the path, it is said, "Having abandoned the community." Making a community, and being a community and a group. Abandoning it means completely applying oneself to abandoning. After abandoning it, what should one do? It is said, "Acting," for the sake of benefiting those to be tamed, right here, abiding for as long as possible, after doing one's own benefit, focusing on the benefit of others, that is what it means. That is called a bhikṣu, that is, he himself will obtain the name of a bhikṣu. What more meaning of the word is to be practiced? It is said, possessing love and so on, to show this, it is said, "Which bhikṣu abides in love." In Śrāvastī, starting from the bhikṣus who harm each other, six verses were spoken. Others say that the accomplished ones living by the Ganges, from afar, were very angry and scolded.
