Having transcended that, six verses were spoken. Taming the mind means being free from its faults through the special path of near-peace. Correctly taming the mind is the nature of the Pratimoksha vows, so at that time one obtains the nature of a tamed mind. The two, arising from Samadhi and knowing Samadhi, are the ultimate tamed mind. What is called happiness refers to the two aspects of happiness, because it is the cause of happiness. Therefore, it is said that the mind is to be guarded, etc. You should turn away from the evil deeds of the mind and place it in good deeds. Vigilance means not falling away from the Dharma and not engaging in evil deeds. Why is it said so? Because it is said that the mind, from the mind guarded by mindfulness, deception means complete ignorance and the complete destruction of virtue. Skye dgu (སྐྱེ་དགུ།,,,) refers to sentient beings. Gcig tu (གཅིག་ཏུ།,,,) refers to the ordinary nature of a child. To say that beings are tormented in hell means to be united with the undesirable ripening fruits such as rebirth. Because negligence prevails, one will be born in hell, the intermediate will be born as animals, and the small will be born as hungry ghosts, as it is said. The birthplaces of animals are of four types, such as those born from eggs. Being born as a hungry ghost refers to the sixty types of hungry ghosts, such as Chagapas, butterflies, burnt offerings, and those who eat Torma. Now, in order to show the fruit of the vigilant mind in a gradual order, starting with the small, etc., the vigilant mind, etc., is mentioned. The mind is guarded, etc., refers to the mind that enters and departs from good and evil deeds. If it is well guarded from what, then it will be joyful, that is, satisfied. Among humans refers to pure places such as Jambudvipa. Heaven refers to places such as the Four Great Kings. Nirvana means attaining liberation from suffering. The explanation of the thirty-first chapter of the mind is completed. Taming the mind.

In order to show that its true meaning is a Bhikṣu, therefore after this, the assembly of Bhikṣus is shown. Having shown "solitary Nirvāṇa" immediately, then what is that? It is "whoever is a Bhikṣu," therefore after this, this is shown. Speaking of "Bhikṣu begging for alms" and so on, in Rājagṛha, the venerable Mahākāśyapa entered the Samādhi of abstaining for seven days and nights, and then arose, and entered the city for the sake of alms. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, transformed himself into the form of a householder and said to him: Venerable one, welcome, please come to my house. He said: I am one who walks among the poor. He also transformed himself into the form of a rope and stayed, and the great being also entered. He said to his wife: Give alms to this renunciate. Then, she filled the bowl with delicious food and gave it to him. He put it down and said: Sister, do not do this again in the future. Then, the Lord of the Gods, Indra, together with hundreds of thousands of divine sons, specially uttered this verse: Alas, giving, great giving! Giving to Kāśyapa. Such giving will become the fruit of great enjoyment. The Blessed One heard this occasion and spoke these words: Food is from the houses of others, obtaining inferior, abundant, cold, warm, stale, fresh food and drink mixed together, whoever has it takes it, this is begging for alms, like one with a staff. Or, the substance given by others arising from thorough renunciation is called alms. For example, independence is the sound that exhausts defilements, when it falls it is like a clod of earth in a well, it means necessity. Whoever has it is like before, just by the method of his begging. This shows abandoning wrong livelihood. Bhikṣu means the Śrāvaka of the Blessed One, because he possesses two kinds of solitude, he has destroyed all distractions. Therefore, this shows two kinds of distractions.
