When one enters in order to abandon afflictions, his mind runs towards various objects. At that time, when the sun rises and is near, having seen the one who tames the king's elephant, he spoke these words. 'Each' refers to the various activities of objects. 'Running' means entering. What is it like? Like the rays of the sun. For example, the rays of the sun, which reside in the sky free from clouds, smoke, dust, etc., spread everywhere without obstruction, just like that. It is shown that it is for the sake of clarity and because it arises from a common activity. 'Definitely turning back' means definitely taking and abandoning from the objects. 'Those' refers to the mind. 'Wise' means knowing the difference in methods. Here, an example is shown: 'Like an elephant with an iron hook.' For example, riding on an elephant, even a mad elephant can be turned back from the wrong path with an iron hook. The yogi himself also completely scolds his own mind. 'Saying' means 'speaking.' 'To that' means 'to the mind.' 'I' means 'oneself.' What is that mind like? It is said to be without essence, because it is not momentary. 'Invisible' means that because it has not become an object of the eye, it acts unknowingly, like a thief. In order to enter the method of abandoning it, in order to instruct oneself. In order to always tame. This is an instruction to the mind, abiding in mindfulness, etc., in accordance with the object of action, at all times unparalleled, i.e., the five aggregates such as form. Or turning back from non-objects. Why? It is said, 'Meaningless to me,' because it is harmful to oneself and others. 'Action' means entering. Moreover, this very thing should not be completely abandoned. Therefore, these things are said, such as 'This mind,' etc. 'This' refers to the mind. 'Before' means in other places, i.e., the state of foolishness. 'Acting' means having acted, i.e., thoroughly entering. 'Wandering' means walking and entering, i.e., with regard to form and the object of action. How is it? As desired.

It is like this. By acting as one pleases, one also acts in the same way with things that are lawful and unlawful. This is the difference in action. The so-called "wherever one desires" refers to generating desire for objects such as form, and manifesting joy, that is, being particularly attached and acting, this is action. The so-called "how one desires" refers to in what manner one is respectful or disrespectful, or in what manner one is driven by attachment, anger, and ignorance, or in order, in the formless, form, and desire realms, acting by the power of subtle increase. The so-called "now" refers to the present. The so-called "that should be seized" refers to the mind. The so-called "properly applied" refers to the meaning of the power of cultivating the antidote that is in accordance with it. As it is said, one should familiarize oneself with the impure, etc., for attachment, anger, etc. "Properly" is the method, that is, what is highly praised and in accordance with it is called "properly." For example, if one asks "how," then it is mentioned "like a mad elephant," just as a mad elephant, some use an iron hook to turn it back from the wrong path and put it on the right path. By truly cutting off the mind's own nature as it is, one can tame it, not others. Therefore, in order to examine it well, houses, etc., are mentioned. A renunciate who has completely abandoned his home, due to past habits, strives and endeavors to build a house in a solitary place, and after some time, becomes disgusted, and being exhorted by the Bhagavan, rebukes his own mind with two verses. Others say that when the messengers of Mara, etc., came to disturb the mind for the sake of Bodhicitta under the Bodhi tree, the Bodhisattva spoke thus. The so-called "many" refers to immeasurable. The so-called "cycle of birth" refers to the stream of life revolving in various realms. The so-called "you have destroyed" refers to having attained the truth, that is, going again and again. Or one should clearly combine various meanings. The so-called "when" refers to from now on, in the various lives before this last life. What is that like? Abandoning the house.
