Earth, etc. (Translator's note: Here, the "etc." in "Earth, etc." is represented by "ས་སོ" in the original Tibetan. According to Tibetan grammar, "སོ" here means "etc." and does not refer to "Earth" itself.) Generosity is extremely famous for the great beings. Or, being completely grasped by causes, it is not just the place and time, but the meaning of being completely grasped by causes. Here, what is completely grasped by causes? Even if it is alone, it is slightly without accumulating retinues, few and alone. A virtuous person refers to a brave person, that is, a warrior. Overcoming everything means overwhelming countless enemies. If it has the distinction of practice and weapons, etc.? Then it is said that it is not well equipped. Even without practice, armor and weapons, etc., are needed for combat. In what way does one overcome the enemy? Then it is said that it is very well equipped, with kitchen utensils, with many complete things. How to show it? For example, on the battlefield, with the distinction of bravery, etc., through practice and weapons, etc., even alone can overwhelm, defeat the people of the battlefield, and obtain happiness and the means of happiness, similarly, the giver has the merits of faith, etc., even if it is small, completely giving wealth in a good field, can obtain the happiness of the heavenly realm, etc., in the next life. Faith is the giver has complete faith, to what object is it given? How is it? It is said that even giving a small amount, even giving a little, such as a portion of food, a hot drink, wine, etc. The tone of "again" is what about many? As it is said, offering with joy in a special field, there is nothing that is small. Therefore, those mean that even a small generosity can bring happiness to the giver, and in addition, it means that in many future lives, results will arise. In this life, this result can also arise, such as arising immediately, etc. In any case, are the warrior and the giver equal? Which is the main one? Then it is said here, etc. The tone of "is" is the tone of "and", how?

This refers to the meaning of engaging in battle and giving alms. Why is it called engaging in battle and giving alms? It is said that engaging in battle a hundred times means fighting a hundred times or engaging in battle a hundred times. Those disputes that are combined with opposing sides are battles. "Subduing" means suppressing, and suppressing or belittling enemies and harmful people is called subduing from battle. What is stinginess? It is the dharma that arises from a mind that is contrary to giving, which is hostile and harmful like an enemy. By manifesting hundreds of thousands of antidotes, it is abandoned behind and subdued by actions that are not universally practiced. In order to show the main point of these two, it is said "more than a hero," meaning a hero who has won countless battles, more than a dispute, because what it symbolizes is very rough and is a temporary enemy. Those are the givers themselves. To be most brave means to be most able to overcome others, because they can cut off the subtle, difficult to understand, and constant enemies from the root. What is that? It is said that those who give with a non-attached mind, because they have the intention to benefit others. If the act of giving is difficult, then even if keeping precepts and so on are not said to be difficult, they can be accomplished. In order to show that although virtuous deeds are very difficult, they should be done with one mind because their fruit is desirable, therefore, it is said that merit ripens, and so on. When the Bhagavan attained complete enlightenment, he accepted the alms of the merchants Gagon and Zangpo, and after rejoicing in the alms of the two, he spoke three verses. The complete ripening of happiness is the nature of happiness, because it satisfies the self and obtains the wonderful uses of happiness. What is that? It is said that merit is the virtuous conduct of giving and so on. Where does this come from? It is said that if one possesses this, then all thoughts and wishes will be accomplished. Why? Because if one possesses merit, then one can
