English

The term "done" means accomplished and generated, because it is accumulated nearby. The term "therefore" means because of this, due to the unpleasant manner arising from it, whoever is killed, bound, has their hands cut off, etc., will suffer in this very life, experiencing great suffering of body and mind. Having revealed the faults of the present life, speaking of the faults of the next life, it is said, "Having gone to the bad destinies, one will also suffer." This means that even having been born in the bad destinies, one will obtain extremely intense suffering. The term "having done good deeds, one will rejoice" means that having accumulated virtuous actions, the cause of the fruit of happiness, one will be satisfied remembering, "I have accumulated in this way." Offerings and veneration will also be obtained at this time. The term "having gone to the good destinies, one will also rejoice" means that having gone to the good destinies, one will also be satisfied. Therefore, both good deeds and bad deeds, like this, bring about the desired and undesired results, and therefore it is said, "from afterwards" and so on. In Shravasti, two great ladies, oppressed by jealousy, sought the practice of curses. It started with women who engaged in good deeds such as pleasing the gods and who made supreme offerings. Beings are afraid of suffering, so it is best not to do what has not been done. People desire happiness, so whatever is done is done. Some say that this was said in the prayer of the gods. The term "evil deeds not done" means that not doing evil deeds itself is the best. Why? Because "from afterwards, suffering is received by that which is done." This means that, like this, once an evil deed is done, it simultaneously possesses the conditions for ripening, so it is said "from afterwards," that is, at another time. The sentient beings who do evil, even in this life, will be displeased by slander and so on, and in the next life, they will suffer from going to the bad destinies and so on. Therefore, not doing evil is the most praiseworthy. The term "having done good deeds is permissible" means that one should diligently engage in good deeds.

Indeed, steadfastness itself is supreme. Like this: "One should not become a cause of suffering." This means that because of doing this, there will be no suffering. It must be determined that one should do good and not do evil, and this can be changed by reading texts and listening to the Dharma. Preaching the sacred Dharma can only be understood by the wise, and only those with special knowledge can do it. Because it has been explained that it can be understood by preaching to sentient beings as it is. Therefore, "the wise" and so on are mentioned. The son of Vishakha Panchala, who is endowed with life, many monks dwell in the rooms of the residence, and he preaches the Dharma to them. Because the words of the palace attendants are pleasant, clear, bright, and pleasing, they also listen respectfully. When the Blessed One heard this, he said, "Vishakha, well done, well done," and then spoke two verses. "Not spoken" means that if one does not speak or show anything at all, one will not be considered wise or intelligent, because the wise are identified by the characteristics of language. Why can't it be understood? Because it says, "The wise and the child are mixed." Mixing means that the forms of feet, hands, eyes, and faces are similar, and the appearance is the same as that of a child, and it is impossible to distinguish them like water and milk. It says, "It is understood by speaking," which means that it is understood through the characteristics of language, "This is sacred, this is wise." What to say? It says, "Speak," which means to show the suchness of reason and scripture. "The state of peace" means harmlessness, Nirvana, and the path to attain Nirvana. In this way, words that are immersed in samsara cannot be called preaching the sacred Dharma. Therefore, this should also be regarded as the remainder of language. "The wise and the child are mixed, and it cannot be understood if not spoken, speak of the state of peace, it is understood by speaking." That is what it means. Not peaceful means to benefit existence. Monks, the realization of existence is suffering, this is expressed in words. Afterwards.
