If it is said that it pervades five hundred yojanas in one direction, if it is said that the tree is white, then, it means that people are controlled by the fragrance of flowers, so there is no fault. The so-called "root" refers to the fragrance of agarwood, etc., which is the meaning of the fragrance of the root. The so-called "Chinese incense" means that this fragrance is from Chinese incense. The so-called "sandalwood, etc. are also not" refers to the fragrance of sandalwood, these are talking about ordinary fragrances. The so-called "holy fragrance" refers to the fragrance of the nature of discipline, wind, and fame. The particle "ni" is said to make the meaning clearer. "Not going to non-direction" means that the wind does not obviously blow to one direction, nor does it go to other places. Why? Because "no matter which direction" refers to all parts of one direction. The most excellent one is the one with the fragrance of holy conduct. "Pervaded by fragrance" means pervaded by the fragrance of the fame of the nature of discipline. It is said: "Wherever the holy one dwells, it appears as pure as the autumn moon. Because it also appears in the three realms, therefore, one must guard the discipline inside and out. Why does it pervade all directions? Because there is no other fragrance besides the aggregate of discipline." In order to clarify this unsurpassed meaning, Chinese incense and sandalwood, as well as utpala(梵文天城体,utpala,梵文罗马拟音,utpala,Blue Lotus)etc., are together with utpala(梵文天城体,utpala,梵文罗马拟音,utpala,Blue Lotus). Māmika(梵文天城体,māmika,梵文罗马拟音,māmika,) is a type of flower. The so-called "with these" means that from the form of fragrance mentioned earlier, it is the remaining part of the word, because those have not been pointed out separately, so it is with the unsurpassed. The so-called "the fragrance of discipline is the most excellent" means that the fragrance of discipline is the most important, because it is for the fruit of happiness, and because it is praised by the holy ones, and because it is non-dual. Why are those? It is said "do not be small", meaning that the fragrance that is only in a small range is inferior, because it is only enjoyed with the nose. So, what is the fragrance that is said to be only in a small range? It is said "this is", referring to Chinese incense and

The meaning of any fragrance such as sandalwood is said to be like this. The fragrance of possessing discipline, refers to the fragrance of the fame of all the holy ones, which is pervaded by the wind of that fragrance, which means pervading the heights. Even if it pervades the Pure Abode, then for people, what need is there to mention it? In order to show the other benefits of discipline, it is said, "One should make discipline completely pure." This complete purity of discipline is characterized by having no pores of defilement, etc. In order to show the main limbs of complete purity of discipline, etc., it is said, "One should abide in mindfulness." It means that those who act without mindfulness are said to be obstacles on the path. Liberation through correct knowledge, refers to that which is not inverted and is certain, which is correct wisdom, that is, uncontaminated wisdom. Liberation through it is liberation from the afflictions of the three realms. Those who rely on such qualities as these, "will not find the path of Mara," meaning that they will not become the path of the son of the gods, Mara. In order to show what was said earlier, it is said, "This is the path to bliss." It means that what was expressed in the verses just mentioned is the complete purity of cause and effect, the path possessing discipline and mindfulness, etc., is the path to bliss, the method of attaining Nirvana. Why is this so? Because "this path that completely purifies." It means that abandoning the predispositions of the three realms is complete purity, the way of discipline, etc., in its meaning is the path, because it is what obtains it. How can this be understood? Because "entering with diligence," it means purifying discipline, abiding in mindfulness, and cultivating the path. After cultivating, it means having the nature of cultivation, like this, diligently cultivating shamatha and vipassana. Moreover, it is said in the sutras, "Without wisdom there is no cultivation, wisdom arises from cultivation." The bonds of Mara are the ropes of Mara.
