The antidotes to impurity are sixfold. It can also be manifestly examined in eight ways, namely, recollecting from causes, results, and nature, etc. In order to show that if one possesses discipline, then generosity becomes pure, therefore it is said, "Recollecting giving." Noble beings give alms in five ways and with six branches, and with nine branches, giving wealth, etc., at the appropriate time, which is the meaning of what is called the object. If one relies on the previously mentioned qualities, it is easy to obtain the state of gods. In order to show this, it is said, "Recollecting the gods." Gods are of two types: those who enjoy desires and others. The first type is sixfold. The other type is twofold, namely, those with form and those without form. Those with form have sixteen places. Those without form have four places. Being born there should also be combined appropriately with generosity, discipline, and meditation. In order to show the method of separating from desire from the desire realm, it is said, "Recollecting the body," namely, seed, field, intention, and similar cause, as well as one's own characteristics and destruction. The distinctions of the body are said to be sixfold, which is extensively explained. Separating from desire from one body used in the desire realm is separating from desire from all desire realms. In order to show this result, it is said, "Recollecting the four concentrations," which also has two types, namely, distinguished by the arising of concentration and meditative absorption. Meditative absorption is single-pointed focus on virtue. Five meditative absorptions, etc., should be spoken of as investigation and analysis, etc. In order to show the benefit of tasting the flavor of concentration, it is said, "For meditation, the mind is joyful," namely, repeatedly meditating and making it manifest, by subsequently experiencing its distinctions, one will obtain the arising of a mind that manifestly desires. Or it is the root of virtue arising from meditation. Because the two, obtained through reason and arising from hearing, are extremely special, this itself arises from the mind of a yogi. Showing the result of delighting in meditation

In order to establish (right view), rejoice in harmlessness. This means that refraining from harming other beings is harmlessness. Rejoicing in harmlessness is for the sake of properly relying on the excellent aspects of virtue. Having softened one's mind through the cause of tranquility, how could one harm others? Rejoice in non-malevolence. This means to correctly show the excellence of properly relying on meditation and cultivation, because by the power of samadhi, one can attain loving-kindness and so on. Non-malevolence is the fundamental nature of goodness without hatred, namely loving-kindness and compassion. Others say that this is to fully obtain the wealth of immeasurables and individual correct knowledge. Other teachings should also be understood, therefore one should proclaim things like the birthplaces that are subdued by power, and so on. In order to show the means of the path of abandoning desire from the formless realm, it is said to rejoice in emptiness. This is the gate of liberation of emptiness, which is entering into the aspects of selflessness and emptiness. Rejoice in the signless. This means that liberation from the signs that are the marks of the ten aspects of conditioned phenomena is nirvana, which is signless. What are those? They are men and women, as well as form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and birth, old age, impermanence, and so on. Or, because there is no cause, it is signless, expressed by the words "non-conditioned phenomena." The samadhi that focuses on this is signless, expressed by the words "signlessness is the aspect of peace." Rejoice in nothingness. This means to fully realize nothingness, because conditioned phenomena change. The samadhi that focuses on this is contemplating nothingness, which means wishlessness. Because this does not desire or abide in anything, there is no rejoicing, because like the worldly path, it should also be abandoned, and so on. This also has ten aspects, like the aspects of wishlessness, truth, and what is said in the sutras, "from beyond that," and so on, these are

It is called the door of liberation without existence, because for those with outflows, there is no way to enter liberation. In order to show the benefits sequentially through these doors of liberation, it is said: joy arises in renunciation, joy arises in solitude, therefore, believing that one possesses body and life at all times, one wanders in samsara many times. Whenever the emptiness door of liberation becomes emptiness, then one turns away from samsara, and joy arises in nirvana, and in the ultimate truth and renunciation. Previously, because of not understanding this, all realms became places for tasting flavors. Obtaining through the signless is also the same principle; whatever richness of meaning is seen, one rejoices in it. For such a cessation yogi, this does not exist, because one has turned away, this is the established conclusion. Due to unprecedented power, one does not arise desire for any compounded thing, because one is focused on and devoted to nirvana without remainder. For one who has become its nature, all joy will be pacified. Commentary on the Fifteenth Chapter, Mindfulness, is completed. Commentary on the Chapter on Distinguishing Merits, Armor of Wisdom.
