These were spoken to reveal the self-nature that causes suffering to oneself. Who can protect or hide oneself and others? It is said, "non-harming," to show who would praise non-harming. It is said, "In all directions," and so on. When the lotus garland woman invited the Blessed One, because she raised her own arm and waved in the crowd, someone provoked by saying: This king has a wife who can match her, she is serving him, and she is very fond of him. Then that king became furious, drew a sharp sword from its sheath, threatened the lotus garland woman, and said: Tell me what you hate most in the world. She said without hesitation: It is myself. In this situation, the Blessed One spoke two verses. Others say that this was because the Six Groups of monks often inflicted various harms on the monks. "In all directions" means all distinctions of direction, that is, all ends of direction. "Complete examination" means to examine and search. "Mind" means wisdom. The word "also" is for emphasis and to arrange in a different order. "If you don't see" means that you haven't been able to see it. "Most hated" means most desired. If you ask where it comes from? The answer is: from oneself. From oneself, there is nothing more hateful than oneself. "Like that" means like that. Just as a being likes himself, no one will like others very much. Similarly, oneself and others are each hateful to oneself. "Each" means all kinds of beings, that is, birth, direction, and birthplace. It should be known that for others, other beings are as hateful as oneself. As it is said: Abiding in happiness and free from suffering, one must recognize to treat beings equally. Therefore, whatever one wants for oneself, one should not use it for others. Therefore, not harming means not harming. For others is

It is another sentient being. Why? Because the word "I" is spoken, wanting to benefit oneself, wanting to make oneself suffer, one will not harm others, this is to be explained. In order to clarify the meaning of the previous verse, it is said, "All cherish life" and so on. "All fear annihilation," this means that all sentient beings will fear and be afraid. Why? Because of the meaning of annihilation. Why would any sentient being not fear harm? Why? Just like this, it is said, "All cherish life," because all beings want this life and will not easily give it up, therefore all fear the annihilation that harms life. Therefore, it is said, "Measure from your own experience," this is to take oneself as an example. "Do not strike" means do not harm and injure each other, oneself and others. "Do not kill" means that even with the help of others' hands, do not try to kill others. It is also said: "Like the poison of hala hala, whether given by oneself or others, one will die, there is no difference." Because of the fear of annihilation, one will harm others, cut off life, kill, do not strike, do not harm with annihilation, etc. Others say, do not kill sentient beings, do not harm. In order to prevent those who love themselves from harming, these words are spoken. The wise say that those who love themselves and do not harm others in any way will gain immeasurable merit. To show that non-harming is true merit, the four verses beginning with "Gods in virtue" are spoken. In a great place in Shravasti, when a wealthy householder with great wealth died, King Prasenajit approached and said, the great holy man, the great king has obtained great wealth, but he himself has no true happiness, because of the past cause Tagarashikhi.

After revering the Tathagata Buddha, having given a little alms, extensively explaining the Dharma of rebirth called the Great Cry of Hell. King Clear King shed tears, wiped them with the edge of his robe, and reported to the Blessed One that for the Blessed One, money, grain, sesame, etc., are of no use whatsoever. The Blessed One taught, "In any case, merit, etc." Others are, Venerable Ananda said, "The holy, upright speakers, slightly beneficial to gods, etc., are also beneficial to both worlds." It is said that this was in response to his request. Virtue refers to the good conduct of body, etc., and the perfections obtained by a virtuous person through reason, which is its definition. Praising the gods refers to the gods who act in desire and form realms, praising virtue itself. In the Barijataka Sutra, monks, the eighth day and the half-month, etc., should be mentioned here. Regarding "whoever practices virtue," "whoever" refers to a person. "Good conduct" refers to particularly practicing the way of merit, and other praises are also spoken to the one who does good. Therefore, people grasping this shore and the other shore, and how to manifest the body of a god, etc., are all expressed with these words. Alternatively, virtue is the good conduct commonly practiced by householders and renunciants. Here, the result of alms is not only doing good, but also refers to this very life. "Will not be degraded" means that great joy and happiness will arise, because it makes all beings happy, is praised by the noble ones, and has the characteristics of not being reborn, etc. Alternatively, "will not be degraded" refers to among people. "Will also obtain happiness in the heavens" means that after death in the next life, one will also feel happiness in the good realms. The word "also" indicates that those who do good are connected with happiness in both this life and the next. How to do good
