If encountering extremely unpleasant circumstances also ceases, or not? Even seeing unpleasant circumstances is the same. May you never encounter undesirable things. The sound of the word "also" specifically prevents encountering pleasant circumstances. Why? Like this, it is said, "Not seeing pleasantness is suffering," because of separation, etc., if pleasant circumstances are seen, grief will arise. Regarding the statement, "Also do not encounter unpleasantness," the word "also" indicates that suffering will follow. If encountering things not previously seen, much suffering often arises. Therefore, seeing or not seeing both pleasant and unpleasant circumstances are equally causes of suffering; this should not be done. From seeing or not seeing pleasant and unpleasant circumstances, what is called suffering, what is it from? It is said, "Pleasantness and," pleasantness refers to father, mother, children, wife, etc., and the objects of attachment that follow. It is said, "Separation and parting," meaning that when separation appears, unbearable sorrow will arise, and this should be connected with the previous text. Regarding the statement, "Encountering unpleasantness," unpleasantness refers to encountering enemies, etc. Unbearable sorrow will arise, which refers to the arising of great grief. To show the greatness of grief, it is said, "By what does impurity cause aging." It means that whoever gives rise to sorrow, like a cut reed scorched by the sun, will destroy the desirous. For example, the daughter of a Brahmin named "Laja" and two students, after watching for a long time, the attachment that followed became very strong. Separating for a short time, they greatly desired to meet. After meeting, they became even more attached to each other, and merely embracing, they died, and their bodies became withered. Merely looking at a picture of sandalwood, the father of sandalwood died, which should also be told here as an example. For the living, the sorrow, etc., related to unpleasantness has been shown. To show the situation of dying, it is said, "When pleasantness dies." Relatives, limbs, friends, loved ones, etc., are pleasant. Dying refers to having passed away, that is, having lost life. Then, why is there separation from pleasantness?

Because relatives and others suffer and grieve for a long time, not only during their lifetime, but also are tormented by unbearable suffering. Therefore, it is taught that one should completely abandon those who cause suffering. Being afflicted by suffering means being harmed by the suffering of body and mind. What are relatives? It refers to parents and relatives, etc., showing the natural relationship of kinship. Artificiality refers to friends, those who have a heart of great affection for friends are friends. How do they grieve and torment? It is said that there are many, that is, many remaining forms. How long does it last? It is said that it is a long time, meaning a long time. Therefore, because of separation from what is loved, suffering arises. It is said that tormenting is because separation from a loved one is the cause of suffering, like a very unbearable poison. For what reason is it said like this? Therefore, do not create love. It is said that one should not create even a little attachment to objects. Why? It is said that love itself is sinful, meaning that whoever shows love has the pleasure of affliction, which is also the root of countless sins, therefore it means being connected with sin. Like this, the basis of all evil deeds arises from this, therefore it should not be done. Or, love itself means attachment to loved objects, both sentient and non-sentient, which is generally and widely taken. For what is not loved, it should also be said in reverse from this aspect, if those who are not loved have not died, then many relatives and friends will grieve for a long time, because of the suffering of encountering what is not loved. Therefore, one should not create what is not loved, just like love itself is sinful. Because it is a matter of both love and what is not loved, therefore the concluding words of these two also appear after it. Why is it not said explicitly? It is said.
