Since both of these situations have faults and benefits, in order to make people adhere to mindfulness, it is said, "One should be mindful of higher mind." and so on. The Shravaka disciples of the perfectly complete Buddha of Light, mostly experiencing and abiding in the taste of meditative absorption, therefore, influenced by that, proclaimed this concise verse of the Pratimoksha Sutra. Another saying is that in Jeta Grove, a suddenly arrived Bhikshu was very unrestrained, therefore this verse was proclaimed. The meaning summarized here is that the first line refers to those who possess discipline, are learned, not content with merely hearing, and possess the conduct of wisdom, should practice the training of higher mind. The second line refers to in order to make the discipline completely pure and not lax, and practice the training of higher mind, one should practice the training of higher discipline. The remaining part shows the benefits of the result of such training. The so-called higher mind refers to having a higher mind. From higher mind arises Dhyana. Because Dhyana can make the mind free. Or, whoever has a higher mind, he is the higher mind. The so-called mindfulness is non-negligence. How to be mindful of higher mind? If with a focused mind, correct attention arises, then he is without sorrow, it should be related to this. This prevents the Bhikshu from experiencing the taste of Dhyana, because its happiness is the place of attachment, therefore it leads to negligence. The so-called Sage is the meaning of Sage. In order to indicate closely, therefore it is said Sage. What the Sage indicates is immovability, whoever possesses wisdom, is the principle indicated by the Sage. Indicating that abandoning and being separated from desire, hatred, and ignorance, is the true Sage, the King of Sages. If so, then are all Arhats also Sages? Because it is indicated that the Buddha Bhagavan is the great Sage. The basis spoken by the Sage is the basis of the Sage.

That is, the very foundation of the precepts established by the Bhagavan. Because it is the capable one, it is the capable one, that is, these foundations. If one dwells well in these, one will attain the reality of the capable one, that is, the state of an Arhat. "Learning" means what is done with diligence, that is, the very foundation of the capable one that now appears. "Without sorrow" means that suffering of the mind does not arise, because there is no fault of affliction in this, and because affliction has been abandoned. If asked, how is it like a son to be without sorrow here? It is said: "Protection" means that the Dharma is not completely diminished by liberation. "Near peace" means that from being separated from afflictions, one attains a more near peace. This shows the perfection of abandoning afflictions. "Always mindful" means that mindfulness is always manifested, because it is the Dharma without the loss of mindfulness, and because it abides in the six places. Because by relying on morality and meditating on samadhi, one attains the desired meaning, this was spoken. In particular, one should strive with wisdom for caution, just like this. "The negligent one is like doing evil," etc., two verses were spoken. In Shravasti there were two merchants, one rich and wealthy, one rich and wealthy, and one with less wealth. How much did the wealthiest one, because of attachment to women and gambling, etc., cause his property to be exhausted, and he began a life of begging. The other remained in diligence, and gradually accumulated wealth by going to the ocean, etc., and became rich and full of happiness. King Prasenajit told such a story to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan also spoke this in accordance with his wishes. Among them, the first verse shows wrong conduct. The second verse shows the cause of wrong conduct. The rest shows the continuation and example of right conduct, which is the summary meaning here. "Negligence" means neglecting to complete things carefully, thus approximately indicating what arises from the mind. "Author" means following, that is, virtue.
