The gods who enjoy in the formless and form realms are bound and abide by attachment to meditative absorption. The gods and humans who enjoy in the desire realm are satisfied and attached to the desires that arise in the present, and speak of pursuing those of the future. That which possesses the nature of pursuing is the pursuit. What is called "craving for objects" is the complete attachment to various kinds of objects, and this is craving for objects. This shows the self-nature of craving. What is called "arising from that" is abandoning craving and transcending it. Here, do not be heedless, that is, do not go beyond exertion. In order to show what should not be done, it is said, "Do not waste leisure and fortune." Here it is said that a human is leisure that has abandoned the eight unfavorable conditions. Do not waste this leisure that you have obtained, which means do not let it pass after obtaining it, and do not let it pass meaninglessly. Why is it said like that? It is said, "Leisure and fortune have passed." Leisure is just as it has been shown. Passed is transcending leisure, that is, leisure has diminished. The word "because" indicates the meaning of cause. Because of this, abiding in leisure and fortune, but heedlessly acting according to the will of craving, one will be born in the hells. If the result of heedlessness and craving manifests, one will regret it. Due to the power of karma, one will say of previous heedless actions, "I did not do well." When one cannot remember what one did before, one will also cry with sorrow and wail due to the intense touch of painful feelings, such as "Woe is me, I am suffering," and so on. After showing that the bondage of gods and humans is pursuit, how is it for those in the lower realms? Therefore, they are bound by the obscuration of karmic ripening, so they will not attain liberation. Gods and humans are also bound by the obscuration of craving. Therefore, even if they have the ability, what is grasped is flawed, so it is shown in order to induce the abandonment of craving. In order to show that if one does not transcend craving, all suffering will arise,

Again, it is said: Why is it said "ocean of craving" and so on? Or why does craving itself lead to regret? Answer: Because it says "ocean of craving" and so on. There are three types of craving: craving for desire, craving for form, and craving for formlessness. This is what is said in the sutras, so this is what is said. If craving is not abandoned, the cycle of suffering will not cease. This is the meaning summarized here. Craving refers to the attachment that follows. The reason for saying "because" is the same meaning, which is to say "craving alone." The reason for saying "because" is to prove that it itself is the main cause. In this way, it itself is also the cause of suffering, which should be understood in conjunction with "if not subdued." Becoming a cause means becoming the cause of the accomplishment of samsara without distinction. What is the truth of the origin? It is craving, as stated in the sutras. Here, "ocean" refers to a river, because it has similarities with a river, so the ocean of craving has the nature of being moist, and the nature of flowing and constantly flowing. Just as a river constantly flows and is moist, so is craving. Craving for objects refers to attachment and special infatuation with various kinds of objects. The basis of fruit refers to entering the impure and suffering-based body from the mark of pimples filled with pus and so on. Covering refers to the arising of various kinds of discriminations, pervading the three realms of existence, which is its meaning. Net refers to the net that has a very terrible net, that is the net, because it is the appearance of the net of sixty-two views. Creeper refers to being like a creeper in the forest, because it sways, and like a future perfect tree, because it sways, and because of the thought that follows the long-term perfection of the future. Tormenting refers to the fact that there is no satisfaction even with the enjoyment of desirable objects. If not subdued means if not abandoned, that is, if not discarded. All ways refers to all ways of cause and effect.
