A person covered in clothes will not be very bright; similarly, abandoning the commentary is also like that. Just as a person wearing clothes on the body but not covering the face will be very bright; similarly, having the commentary is also like that. In a room without a lamp at night, one relies on groping with difficulty; similarly, a treatise without word explanations also relies on groping with difficulty. Thus it is said. Then, why is it that the section on impermanence, etc., is arranged first? The reason for the order of the sections should be explained. It is because of the very cause of rejoicing in accumulating all roots of virtue, and because the concept of impermanence arises from that, therefore impermanence is taught, because it depends on it. Like this, holding on to permanence as a precursor leads to seeing self. From that cause, all afflictions arise. From the cause of afflictions, all non-virtues arise. From that, all networks of suffering greatly increase. Whenever impermanence is taught and universally heard, the concept of impermanence will arise. From that, selflessness will be seen. From that, one will not universally engage in desire and so forth, but will engage in virtue and so forth. From that, happiness will arise, so the section on impermanence is arranged first, and others should also be explained as appropriate. After explaining all these things that should be explained first without omission, now the classification of words will be explained. If someone says that it is unreasonable to say something inappropriate when placing something that needs to be expressed specifically, then these are precisely two verses composed by the noble Dharmarakṣa. First, wanting to explain it, he said, "Should be discarded," and so on. Because the root of all perfections is listening to the Dharma, its method is also abandoning what should be abandoned and accepting what should be accepted, which is the way of abandoning and accepting, because one can enter listening to the Dharma through this method, so the first verse is taught, which is its condensed meaning. The meaning of the words should be explained. The so-called "should be discarded" means to completely eliminate, to eliminate through antidotes, which is abandoning and discarding, meaning to make it far away from the continuum. The appearing

It is said that sleep and drowsiness can be eliminated through wisdom. So, auspicious words and the like are clearly known in the treatises. Therefore, in order to show the conduct of the holy ones, auspicious words should be spoken first. So, is this word called "Pervasive Abandonment" a synonym for complete abandonment? Does it mean symbolizing the complete abandonment of treatises? Answer: This is not a fault. Because in the Buddha's teachings, abandonment is the main thing, so meaning should be emphasized, so it is not a fault to call it an auspicious word. Therefore, like this, abandoning lack of faith in order to listen to the Dharma is auspicious. A renunciate does not live at home, and the subtle defilements to be abandoned by the seeing of the path of seeing, and all the defilements with outflows of the path of meditation, and going to the realm of nirvana without remainder, is also very auspicious for completely abandoning all conditioned phenomena. Because it is to be known that abandonment destroys all suffering. Therefore it is said: Whatever has the control of others, that is suffering, inauspicious. Whoever completely abandons it, he desires the most auspicious. So, what is to be eliminated? Answer: What is to be eliminated is sleep and drowsiness. Sleep and drowsiness are sleep-drowsiness. Through the distinction of words, for all categories of words, through the summary of Sanskrit (པ་རི་བྷཱ་ཥ་), it has been done, so it is enough to say that, it has been done to summarize. If through cultivation, the mind and mental factors become drowsy and dull, and it becomes unbearable to do good, that is the opposite of very diligence, the mental factor drowsiness, meaning to make the mind dull. What also makes consciousness stop, the wind of the body's channels, that is the meaning of the mental factor sleep. This mainly shows the things that become obstacles to listening to the Dharma, like darkness when seeing things. Drowsiness belongs to the great defiled ground, so it is completely defilement itself. Therefore, here it is in order to regard it as a kind of obstacle. Therefore, here it is considered a kind of obstacle. Sleep is also an obstacle itself. That is the ground of mind.
