Yes. Why is that? Because it is necessary to clearly state the purpose of the treatise. In any case, those with understanding will not engage in something devoid of purpose. As it is said: Whatever the treatise, or any action, as long as the necessity is not shown, who will accept it until then? That's how it is. Practice is also of two kinds: following through faith and following through Dharma. Among these, following through faith relies on others and engages. If told, "Speak," one will engage without considering the necessity of what is to be said. But following through Dharma is not like that. Because it engages after examining the necessity, because it begins after seeing what is harmful and meaningless. Similarly, one should also contemplate whether the necessity of this is in accordance with the method or not. In this regard, first, among the two kinds of teachings that are shown, the first necessity is to show the suchness of things. To those to be tamed, it is said like this, and that is also for the sake of realizing suchness. Because without showing it, there is no realization of suchness. By giving the hand of teaching the sacred Dharma, they are led as if giving the deserved share. Realizing suchness also means knowing nirvana and becoming completely liberated. The scriptures say that by knowing it itself, one will surely realize the good. Nirvana is also the ultimate end of all necessities, because it is the ultimate nature of the fruit. As it is said: Because this continuum of necessity is not the ultimate. What is to be said are the five aggregates and the three unconditioned elements. For example, "Alas, all conditioned things are impermanent," this explains the five aggregates. "Their pacification is bliss," this explains the cessation through discernment, which is the wisdom that sees all phenomena as selfless. Through this, it also speaks of space and non-discernment cessation. Thus, by teaching and declaring, the connection between the characteristics of the declaration and what is to be declared is shown. From the point of view of the compiler, necessity and so on should be stated.

For the distinctions of verses arising from the words of all Sugatas, in order to arrange similar kinds into groups, if the distinctions of verses that represent the same meaning are gathered together, then it starts from this meaning. Why? Because it is easy to understand, does not distract the mind, has no faults, is easy to clarify, and so on. Like flowers strung on a thread, cooked food, ornaments crafted by a skilled blacksmith, and a lamp with assembled causes and conditions, arranged in order. Just as flowers strung on a thread are easy to pick up and enjoy, so too are verses arranged in groups. Just as looking at cooked food, looking at it with desire, one will not be distracted or confused, so too, for those who practice taming with similar initial teachings, when taking verses, they will not be distracted. A continuously burning fire can cook food, and continuously tames the unruly elephant. If wood is rubbed continuously, fire will arise, therefore, for the sake of those trainees who cling to permanence, the collection of impermanence is arranged. For those who hold desires as happiness and are associated with them, there is the collection of desires and so on. Just as ornaments crafted by a skilled craftsman are praised by the noble ones, so too is the teaching well-collected by skilled people. Just as a lamp with assembled causes and conditions is very bright, so too, by the power of teaching closely connected, the door of wisdom will be opened. Thus, if wisdom becomes pure through this order, then what should be abandoned is abandoned, and what should be taken is taken, and thus what should be done is done, and the rest is as before. Completely separated, what should be said is the collection of verses, which is connected by the characteristics of saying and what should be said. Completely separated, without saying, not speaking, it will not become clear, as it is said: If this body is not covered.
