The meaning of 'not being satisfied with what has come' is not without reason. Even if one obtains a mountain of gold, desires will not be satisfied. To show this, it is said, "The land of snows," and so on. The Blessed One was dwelling in the town of the Shakyas called Shilavati. Then, the Blessed One thought to himself: "Kingship is certainly to be obtained by killing and causing others to kill." As soon as he said this, Mara came and asked: "Venerable one, kingship is to be obtained by means of miraculous powers. That is the kingship that is desired." "Wicked one, why do you speak thus?" he rebuked. "Venerable one, I have heard and received directly from the Blessed One that whoever fully relies on, cultivates, increases, and desires the four legs of miraculous power, he will be liberated even from a mountain of gold equal to the snowy mountains, and it will become like that, and not otherwise. Venerable one, the Blessed One possesses the four legs of miraculous power," he said extensively. "Therefore, I speak thus." As soon as he said this, the Blessed One spoke these two verses. Among them, the first verse correctly shows and causes one to correctly understand. How does it correctly show? The fault of greed and craving is that even if one obtains abundant and supreme, uncommon wealth, one will not be satisfied. To whom does it cause correct understanding? It prevents one from engaging in evil deeds based on greed and craving, and leads one to good deeds. This is the summarized meaning. 'Even if there is a mountain' means even if there is an accumulation, it is still the same. Of what mountain? It is said, 'A mountain of gold,' meaning the gold of the Jambudvipa river. What is the measure? It is said, 'Equal' means similar. Equal to what? 'The land of snows,' especially the place where there is much snow, that is the place with snow. Therefore, it is equal to that great mountain. This shows the attainment of abundant wealth. 'Gold' means possessing wealth and having obtained it. Even so, even if there is a pile of gold equal to the snowy mountains

English

Also, "not satisfied," it is said, meaning that it will not be satisfied. Who? It is said, "even one," it is said, if even one desire is not exhausted, what need to mention many? This shows the uncommon time. "Wealth that," means his wealth. Or, because it is known by this, therefore wealth that is happiness, knowing and obtaining and subsequently experiencing is the meaning of wealth. "Do," means because of that, because of what is not satisfied, therefore completely abandon desires and do good, that is the meaning. What is it? It is said, "realization," it is said. Skilled in examining merits and faults. Having realized thus, what should be done? It is said, "good conduct," it is said, enter into good conduct, entering into good conduct, one should practice good conduct itself. Do not act unkindly towards sentient beings because of attachment to wealth. Because the conduct of all sentient beings depends on good conduct. Relatives, friends, and family, will turn away when suffering arises. One should rely on the virtuous deeds that will go together. Thus it is said. These were spoken to generate disgust from evil deeds done for the sake of gaining wealth. If one realizes that one is oppressed by desires in this way, then one will be freed from desire, and in order to show this, it is said, "Those who suffer," and so on. Here, the first half of the verse shows the fault that if desires are not abandoned, they are the cause of suffering. Because if there are desires, then there will be opponents, and killing and binding many, and obtaining many kinds of suffering. The latter half of the verse shows the fault of being even more attached to the loss of desire. Because if it is lost, it remains painfully like a thorn stuck in, and accompanied by sorrow, this is the summary meaning here. "Those who," means for whom. "Knowing," means realization, that is, seeing reality. What is known? "Suffering," it is said.

That is, the five aggregates of grasping. In short, it is said that the five aggregates of grasping are suffering. It also has three kinds of suffering, which should be related to all sufferings according to their respective situations, as it is said, having three kinds of suffering should be related to everything according to their respective situations. The so-called "its cause" means that it arises from this, meaning "this cause and the cause of desire." This is because craving is the truth of the origin. The so-called "in desire" means for those who have become objects, and should be related to "never happy." The so-called "those" means knowing. The so-called "never happy" is because the wise know that the root of all suffering is desire. Therefore, for the same desire, who would be particularly happy? That is, how to desire and generate craving. If desire disappears, will there be happiness? The answer is no. Why? Answer: It has been said "in the world", even if the world of desire disappears, it will produce the stinging pain of sorrow, therefore, not wanting itself is also a kind of desire. It should be known as the cause of stinging pain. The cause of the objects of the consciousness of desire is the giving and receiving for the sake of enjoyment. For example: parents, children, male and female servants, hired workers, those who live on wages, friends, ministers, relatives, in-laws, horses, elephants, cattle, goats, sheep, property, food, wealth, gold, warehouses, etc. are all completely accumulated. When these disappear, unbearable stinging pain of sorrow will also arise. Therefore, these have become stinging pains for those with great greed. The so-called "those" means the cause of becoming stinging pain. The so-called "stable" means the wise. The so-called "for taming" means for separation and abandonment. The so-called "should learn" means relying on the path of abandonment. Why are the three learnings called the path? That is, the aggregates of discipline, meditation, and wisdom are the noble path.
