also arises, because one cannot be completely liberated by it. "Father is not" means the one who can procreate, but even the two parents cannot completely protect their children from the Lord of Death. "Relative is not" means that even relatives cannot slightly protect from death. Because some sentient beings think they have the arms of sons, therefore they dwell without self. Some rely on the arms of fathers. Some rely on the arms of relatives. Some rely on both. Some completely abandon the hope for all of them, therefore the Blessed One spoke these words. These arms should not be trusted, because these things cannot be done in any way. Who? It is said: When the time of death arrives. It is said, controlled by the Lord of Death. If that is the case, one by one cannot do it, but if they gather together, they can do it, like piling up corpses? To show that this is also not the case, it is said: You have no refuge. It is said that even if sons and others gather together, there is no one who can completely protect from death, because the world experiences the fruits of its own karma. The Noble Path is the only one that completely protects from death, therefore, to lead to it, these words were spoken. If one does not complete a task and starts another, one is not free from the fear of death and so on. To show this, it is said: This is what should be done, has been done, and so on. In Rajagriha, a man named Bhavyavadhaka, having attained the fruit of Stream Entry, became careless in cultivating the higher path. He thought, "I have blocked the gate to the lower realms, now I will enjoy and experience the desires of gods and humans, and especially attain liberation from suffering through the excellent truth." But after some time, he passed away and entered the womb of the wife of an abandoned family. After being born, a female servant abandoned him naked with thorns at a crossroads at night. Because he was in great pain, he rolled around and cried out. The lay practitioners living in the Grove of Light heard him, picked him up, and were in accordance with his mind.

Having attained that (state), he enjoyed it properly, and having done many aspects of seeing the faults of existence, through the help of those aspects, he completely departed from suffering. Having heard about such an event from the lay practitioners, the Bhagavan spoke these two verses. Among them, first, he spoke the first one, saying "This is to be done," etc. Those who are attached to worldly affairs will be overcome by death, etc., but they do not strive for affairs that transcend the world, which is the condensed meaning. "This is done" means this is completed. "To be done" refers to the cause of what is to be done and what is to be done. There are three kinds of "to be done": what has been done, what has been started to be done, and what has not been started but should be done. Among them, except for the first, he spoke of what should be started, saying, "This matter should be done," now is the time to do this very thing. "After doing those" means that those that have been started should be completely finished. "I" refers to oneself. "This should be done" means that it should be accomplished after this. "Thus" refers to showing the aspect of the previously mentioned distinctions. "Indeed" means that it must be grasped, and here it should be known that it is being overcome. Who is being overcome? He replied, saying, "Person," referring to sentient beings. When "completely scattered," it means completely fabricating, because the mind is distracted by countless evil thoughts. "Overcoming" means overwhelming, destroying, and ruining. What is that? He replied, saying, "By death and aging," referring to aging accompanied by death, because death and aging both send people to death, so the intermediate words are not explicitly stated, like diamond dust. Because disease follows along, it is accompanied by disease. For worldly people, whose affairs are not completed and are completely distracted, they are completely destroyed by aging, tormented by disease, and become slaves of the Lord of Death. Therefore, one should abandon all other affairs and strive to prevent death, etc. This is what the supreme Sage has fully revealed.

Namo. Because worldly activities are endless. As it is said: Kings, poisoners, etc., have not finished their tasks, and then there are tasks to be done, and they will also cease and be interrupted. Likewise, these activities, without reaching the end, then such worldly enemies, death will come. That's what it says. Because of doing many things that should not be done for a long time, and because of generating weariness towards many discriminations such as not dying, these were said. Because in that way, beings distracted by worldly affairs are destroyed by old age, death, and disease. Therefore, in order to accomplish transmundane activities, "Thus" etc. were said. The condensed meaning here is the cause of the practice of samadhi, and the mind without weariness through the practice of samadhi, and after obtaining samadhi, not being satisfied with just samadhi, thereby perfecting the path of seeing and the path of cultivation, and the fruit of the path of cultivation, and the benefits of that fruit, are all shown here. Therefore, the word "Thus" shows the cause of the practice of samadhi. Thus, always rejoice in samadhi, abide equally. Generate diligence, do not look at the edge of birth and death. Subdue the hordes of demons and their retinues, may the monks cross to the other shore of birth and death. These words show the remaining parts in order. Now, The meaning of each word will be explained. The so-called "Thus" refers to the cause mentioned earlier, just like this: Thus, when a person is completely destroyed, he is destroyed by old age, disease, and death. Like this, the cause is like this. This shows the cause of practice. Because weariness arises towards death etc., therefore knowing thus and generating weariness, from this there will be the practice of samadhi. This shows the practice of reverence, having spoken of constant practice, the so-called "constant" is all the time. The so-called "rejoicing in samadhi" is rejoicing in samadhi, which means rejoicing in meditation. After obtaining rejoicing in samadhi, the practice of it is completely
