And declared that all the world is subject to the power of death. Then, a certain monk rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and said: Venerable one, is it also true that whatever dwells in the womb is unstable and insecure? Monks, from the very moment of entering the mother's womb at night, one approaches the presence of the Lord of Death. Why is that? Monks, the Teacher has thus declared that all conditioned things are impermanent. The first three verses show that life is exhausted in an instant. The last shows that one does not return after life is exhausted. This is the condensed meaning: it shows the difference of body and place, and staying, leaving, hope, and separation. That very moment is the first; the desire to appear at night is the place; dwelling in the mother's womb is staying; dwelling on one side of the ribs is leaving. Saying that one goes and comes again, in four ways, there is no hope in this. The wise do not become proud of living; this is the condensed meaning of this. In the meaning of the limbs, 'place' is the indication, combined with 'night.' One night that is not indicated, whether it is winter or something else. 'Only' is to be taken as certain, meaning that very night of entering the womb. What is night? It is said: the first, the moment of union, up to approaching. Entering the womb is entering the mother's belly, becoming a soft state, like the foam of cheese. Who does that? He said: a human sentient being, that is, a person who has mind, like Rahu. This indicates that one enters the womb without abandoning afflictions such as self and what belongs to self. Some think that because there is no entering the womb during the day, therefore it is said 'night.' Because one enters in darkness, dwelling in the womb is also night; some say that. How to draw near...

Exhausted. Just as it increases during trading time. It is not like that at other times. Likewise, the night is the time for intercourse. So it is said. It is not contradictory that desire also arises during the day. Because it depends on the gathering, there is no certainty about it in all cases, therefore, the capable one did not explicitly state the time. If the three places manifest, boys and girls will be born, and so on. This is because it is mainly shown as night, considering the majority of cases. Because it is particularly suitable for engaging in sexual desire in this way. Because it is said that it is related to many affairs. Desire will not arise during the day. Because all affairs are pacified. Desire will arise very strongly at night. Because it is said so. The so-called "without dwelling" means without hindrance and without obstruction. The so-called "that" refers to that person. The so-called "will go" refers to between exhaustion, transformation, and going. The so-called "from the departed" refers to from going to the place of death. The word "is" should be understood as grasping affirmatively, and it should also be combined in this way in sequence. The so-called "no return" does not mean the return itself, but the meaning of not returning again. Because life itself is changing, do not definitely think that this is the certainty of life. Because he abandoned the attachment to life, it should be understood through this verse. In order to show that even in the middle, the things of the self are unpleasant, so he said, he said morning and so on. The origin and story of this is that in Shravasti, a man belonging to the village industry of Prince Jetasena, complacent because of the pride of youth, married a newly married wife who was beautiful in appearance, looked lovely, and was very beautiful, so he also paid close attention to her and love arose in his heart. At some point, a village affair happened, so he went there. After that, his wife was bitten by a black snake, so she died. He came back in the evening and saw her being burned on the wood at the cremation ground, and he immediately jumped in as well, and both died. Then, the Bhagavan, in order to generate true renunciation in the king, went there and said: King!

After stating that "the lives of great people are impermanent," etc., four verses beginning with "In the morning, many people are seen" were bestowed. Life is not to be trusted because the time is uncertain, just as a candle placed in the wind without protection, the time of death is uncertain. This is the condensed meaning. The word "afternoon" is a particle of speech, indicating the meaning of the seventh case, meaning the end of the day, the time of the afternoon. "Some" means a few. "Will not be seen" means not seen. What is that? It is said: Morning is the beginning, that is the beginning of the sun. Seeing means seeing correctly and having it as an object. Some beings are seen in the morning, but if they die in the afternoon, they are not seen. Many people means great people, the word great here indicates many, just like saying a great crowd of people has gathered. "Some in the morning" means those who are first seen in the evening are not seen at the end of the evening. This shows the meaning that there are two kinds of beings: those with desire and those who do business. For those with desire, even when seeking pleasure in enjoying closeness with women, those with desire are not seen, this is the first half of the verse. Those who are masters of business, etc., do business in the morning, because of those businesses, village chiefs, etc., are not seen in the morning, this is the latter half of the verse. This verse was spoken to apply to those who postpone virtuous deeds. Because life is so uncertain, it is said that those who wish to benefit themselves should not trust here, so it is said, "Many men and women," etc. The previous verse showed that time and place, etc., are uncertain, and this shows that the stage of age is uncertain. Or not trusting trust.
