For example, like clouds departing from summer, the full moon in autumn is particularly beautiful. Similarly, it is also in the three realms of existence. If asked how to cultivate mindfulness of breathing in and out, the answer is: 'The body is to be settled,' meaning the body is unmoving and stable, therefore it is not particularly distracted by objects. Because from distraction, the body will move, and from that, the mind will waver. Therefore, one cannot meditate. If the body can be settled, then it has a particularly abiding state, such as cold and heat, etc., which should be examined here from the scriptures. Similarly, 'the mind is,' means settling itself. From the mind abandoning wrong thoughts, one truly and correctly relies on the solitude of the body, which is the so-called meaning. The word 'and' settles both, meaning when the body is settled, the mind is also settled. In order to accomplish how one can meditate in that way, therefore it is said 'standing and' etc. It is said by which conduct one can meditate in that way, saying: Standing is standing up. Sitting is sitting closely, such as sitting in the lotus position, etc. The word 'and' here also connects both, that is, sitting and standing. Similarly, 'when sleeping,' means it is also like when sitting. When walking, because it is distracting, it shows that there is no mindfulness at all times. That refers to mindfulness of breathing in and out. Settling refers to how, in any case, the Blessed One's disciples can settle well, especially meditating and fully receiving. Will be obtained, means will be found. What is it? The differences between before and after are mentioned. The difference between before and after is before and after. The wind entering is before, and exiting is after. Its difference is benefit. If one fully observes arising and ceasing, one will obtain a forest of impermanence thoughts, etc. If one obtains this difference, what will happen? 'The Lord of Death will go without even seeing.' It means that the name Lord of Death will not appear in his power and realm, that is, going to the state of immortality. When all of the things

If the law of birth and destruction is realized through the noble path, then subtle growth is abandoned and one goes there. Wherever the demon of death sees and becomes an obstacle, entering everywhere, one is liberated from being seen by the king of death, that is, abiding in liberation. How is distinction obtained? For example, with body mindfulness and so on. Many monks dwelling in monasteries arose with doubts and went before the Blessed One, asking: Venerable One, what is Nirvana? The Blessed One replied: That cannot be expressed. Monks, for example, if someone were to show a blind person various pleasing and captivating forms, would he know them? Venerable One, he would not. Those are known by oneself. Why? Because one cannot realize it through the words of others. However, listen well to how it is realized, up to there. Here, being alone and afraid, dwelling in a house, one should cultivate the four mindfulnesses, from there, these verses were spoken. Because it is the form of the body, it belongs to the body, that is, the four mindfulnesses that focus on the body. What is the mindfulness that belongs to the body? Monks, here, one contemplates the body on the inner body, etc., as it is said in the sutra. Mindfulness is abiding, arising, and manifesting. The characteristic here is discipline and guarding the senses, and to show this, it is said, "six sources of contact," that is, the mind that arises from the combination of object, sense, and consciousness, contacting the object is contact. Its source is the cause of production, that is, the six senses such as the eye. Guarding is taming, monks, here, one should tame by guarding the eye sense, as it is said in the sutra. By guarding the senses, even if the guarding of discipline is not shown, it can be realized, because without discipline there is no guarding of the senses. Because those actions that enter here are the body mindfulness.

Meditation can achieve it, but others cannot. This shows the fruit of mindfulness, and through its power, the senses are subdued. "Who" refers to someone who abides in discipline and meditates on the senses; for them, there exists the meditation of mindfulness pertaining to the body. "Always abiding in equanimity" indicates the qualities of the yogi previously mentioned. "Always abiding in equanimity" means constantly valuing meditation on samadhi. Alternatively, the word "always" is a distinction of nirvana. The one who abides will always realize nirvana by themselves; from the mind of equanimity, they will know things as they are, according to this statement. Who obtains the complete abiding in nirvana? "By themselves" means that each sentient being's own self will realize nirvana, because it is not found externally. To show that one can cross the ocean of existence solely through the power of mindfulness, it is said, "Who," and so on. The venerable Shariputra is adorned with the four modes of conduct and is very content, and so forth, the monks praised before the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: That is not so surprising. Why? Because whoever abides in the four close placements of mindfulness and meditates, and so on, it exists for any monk who has abandoned clinging, this is what was said. "In all aspects" means from all aspects, just as it shows mindfulness of objects such as the body. Mindfulness is the state of not losing mindfulness. "Always" means continuously. To show that mindfulness of the body is not just a small thing, but also desired by those who want liberation, the word "selflessness" is mentioned, even so, for this person, the object of clinging to self has been abandoned. This shows the desire to abandon the object of the self that arises now. "Without clinging to self" means showing the abandonment of the object that arises now. To completely abandon both, the two "also" particles are used to indicate this.
