is the second. Similarly, other monks dwell in a place, and taking from it, this is the third. In the homes of Brahmins and householders, and in other monasteries, also desiring offerings, this is the fourth. Therefore, he, being in control, spoke four verses. An evil person is a child, meaning diarrhea. Desiring gain is manifestly desiring to obtain wealth and so forth. In other places, it is said to desire existence, existence being true existence, which is understanding and speaking; even though worldly people do not have faith in me, they are made to believe, and so forth. Or, it is seeking gain and objects of reverence. In order to show that one characteristic of an evil person remains, it is said, "Monk attendants are desirous," etc. It means desiring to be the chief, supreme, and leader among the elder monks with great qualities, which is the meaning of the word "and." Or, it is the attendants themselves. Alas, monks, you ask me about attendants, please sit down with reverence. "Being stingy with places" means that monasteries and dwellings, etc., are all clinging to the excellent places. It is not that they do not dwell in these places, but they do not want others to obtain them, and they themselves are completely attached. "Offerings from other lineages" means that those other lineages are not related lineages. Alas, please give me alms and offerings as if I were a relative, not to others. In order to show that through complete understanding, attachment, etc., is existence, therefore it is said, "Ordained," etc. Again, it must certainly be so, whether it is all householders or all ordained people, whichever one it may be, they all wish that I become the most important, which is completely recognizing that it is not an excellent place. Householders are those who live in a house. Ordained people are those who have abandoned their homes. Whether householders or ordained people, they will now have respect for me, but not for others. "If it becomes my power" means relying on me and being related to me. "Hope" means to become.

One, that is, any one, this word follows. Where is it? Whether the action is done or not. Having said this, for all things slightly done or not done, doing or not doing these, also do according to my teachings. Or for the great and small things slightly done or not done, like a goddess without a waist. Like this, children will have various thoughts. This means that in this way, the argument overwhelmed by gain and respect is the increase of thoughts that are not properly considered, just like rain falling on the grass. Strong desires will grow in the heart. This means that craving and pride will increase because of this, and these two are the root of samsara. Gain and respect are the cause of wandering in samsara, not the cause of attaining liberation. Why? The methods of obtaining are different. This sentence shows that the method is action and cause. This seems to be different, just like the method of obtaining samsara is craving and so on, and this itself is the method of obtaining the body and so on. The method of going to and attaining Nirvana is different, and different from this is the method of going to liberation, that is, knowing the Dharma, selflessness, and the nature of being accustomed to discipline. Gain and respect are another method, that is, the way of acting that is not properly considered, and its result is also samsara, which is the remainder of the sentence. The remainder has been explained. Gain and respect are obstacles to liberation, so who will know? Those with wisdom will know, and in order to illustrate this, it is said, "Like this, if you know various situations." Like this, it refers to what was said before, or what will be said next, that is, like knowing how to hinder liberation or enter samsara. Who will do what? The Bhikshu is mentioned, that is, completely abandoning the household life and becoming a monk. If asked, are there also Bhikshus in yellow clothes and so on? The answer is that the Buddha's Shravaka indicates that he follows the Tathagata's teachings.
