Also, to give rise to the desire to hear the well-spoken word. "Completely abandoning the stain of miserliness" means that because one highly values giving, one has abandoned the stain of miserly habits. The actions of hatred, delusion, and attachment are, in relation to faith, showing the three signs that indicate its characteristics in order. Alternatively, it is to show that those who are Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and those with the Buddha-nature possess one, two, or three signs in order. Those gatherings are established as making one realize faith. That itself is called faith, and is also called having faith, because it is inferred from seeing its fruit. It is widely known in the world that faith exists at the time of connecting with virtue, but it is not necessarily expressed when approximating everything. To show that faith alone is the essence extracted from the world, the provisions for the path of faith, etc., are mentioned. A deity asked: What provisions for the path should be given, and what cannot be stolen by thieves? Who, if they steal, can be stopped, and who, if they steal, would be pleasing? What, when it comes, will always make the wise manifestly joyful? To this, these words were spoken. That faith is having faith. Giving is closely receiving. Provisions for the path are the livelihood for the path. The collection of merit, such as generosity, can be given with the hand of faith, and it is the equipment for going to the next world. As it is said: For example, with many provisions for the path, a traveler goes happily here. Similarly, here too, beings who have done good deeds go to a happy destination. It is said. "Merit cannot be robbed by bandits" means that even thieves who destroy cities cannot rob what others have used well, because the king of merit, the bandits, even if cunning and diligent, cannot rob. This is explained by these words. Stopping bandits from robbing means that when thieves rob the wealth of others, it can be stopped by the punishment of being killed, etc., by the king, etc. It would be pleasing if taken by practitioners.

That which is called "taking away" refers to those who seize and take away others' food, drink, clothing, and houses, etc., and those who are virtuous and diligent in keeping vows are greatly pleased by beings who have faith. It is like the noble ones taking away and taking is good, that is the meaning of this sentence. The so-called "to the ascetic who has come" refers to the diligent vow-keeper who has come with peaceful conduct. The so-called "always" means constantly. The so-called "manifestly pleased" means manifestly wanting. The so-called "wise" means wanting to benefit oneself. When patrons make offerings in the field that is in accordance with faith, in order to show the fault that evil beings will lose their samadhi due to the influence of jealousy, it is said, "Beings should do as they can," and so on. The patron Anathapindika very respectfully offered robes and other things to the venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. Kokalika and others ridiculed, saying that this patron is obviously biased towards people, so they spoke two verses. The so-called "giver" means making offerings to those who have qualities. The so-called "one" means one, that is, beings with faith. The so-called "as is faith" means in accordance with faith, that is, the distinction of smallness, etc., and the distinction of giving, etc., done by it. The so-called "do as appropriate" means in accordance with wealth, that is, giving according to the wealth accumulated, just like faith. How should those who have not accumulated wealth seek? The so-called "like that" refers to food and drink, given by the patron. The so-called "if the mind is not happy" means unhappy due to the influence of jealousy, etc. The so-called "other" refers to the relationship with the recipient, which is the remainder of the sentence. The so-called "he, day and night" refers to that evil being during the day and night. The so-called "will not attain samadhi" means not being able to find one-pointedness of mind, that is, it is said below that he has the distraction caused by jealousy, do not despise your own gains, etc. After showing the black side, the white side is spoken, the so-called "who with" etc.
