Others say that this is a general exposition of the three Bodhis, namely, the Hearer, the Solitary Buddha, and the Buddha. The word "vigilance" here symbolizes and indicates the noble path to those who are to be tamed. Therefore, for all those who are to be tamed who have been corrupted by disbelief, laziness, and ignorance, this indicates the antidote of the instructions such as faith. Because it is said that relying on faith cuts off all bonds, it is said, "Bhikkhus of faith," and so on. A god asked: "What is such a friend? What is such an instruction? What Bhikkhu, with joy, will cut off all bonds?" And so on. This is what was said: Where does the friend of faith exist? Relying on faith, one will obtain the distinction of the vows of individual liberation, etc., for if that is not there, then that is not there. "Filled with wisdom," means that with the mind of the nature of wisdom, this Bhikkhu is filled and taught as it is, and this indicates permanence. "With joy in Nirvana," means that true joy has arisen in liberation itself. Having turned one's back on samsara, one becomes skilled in Nirvana. Therefore, a Bhikkhu who is accustomed to the path of attaining it will cut off all bonds, that is, all the ropes of affliction. In this, faith and wisdom indicate a perfect union. "With joy in Nirvana" indicates a perfect intention. The rest indicates its benefit. Possessing faith, etc., one will obtain the designation of being called "good," therefore it is said, "Who with faith," and so on. The Blessed One said that a Bhikkhu is said to be of good conduct. If asked to what extent is one said to be of good conduct, then these were said. "Who with" means any sentient being. "Faith" is as before. In order to show that these are the causes for being called "good" individually and completely, the word "and" is said three times. The word "ཉིད་" is to be taken as definite, because the order is arranged differently, so now it is good.
