That is, it means to criticize non-existent faults. Going to hell means that, like the field of karma, it will mature in hells such as resurrection. Those who say they have not done what they have done, etc., means that they have done evil and concealed it, and even if others ask, even if they know and remember it in the Sangha, they do not say it, but say that I have not done so. This is also going to hell, which is the tone of "also". Why do both go to hell? The answer is that both refer to those who criticize their own nature, that is, unreasonable words, and say that I am not the one who did this. In this way, the vile Dharma should be observed here. Gone means to die and migrate from this world to another world. Similar means to be born equally in hells and other places. What is it? The answer is that it is the vile Dharma, because it has done things that should be condemned in this way, and has done evil false speech. That person refers to sentient beings. Where do they follow like that? The answer is that going to the other shore refers to the wise, meaning that they are the masters of all births. Or should the vile be spoken of in the nature of the Dharma seen? No, the answer is that, however, for the sake of the next life, if evil deeds have been done in this way, even if they are not revealed in the assembly, they will be praised in the world as good deeds, but it is not so in the next life, because there the results will be in accordance with the deeds, so "gone" should be connected with this, meaning that from here to the next life. The basis of language—the tongue—is condemned because it has become the cause of correct misuse. Why? Because it is said, "From the mouth of the man who was born," and so on. The Bhikshu named Kokalika was a member of Devadatta's retinue.

Then, he abandoned things like properly taking vows and resided in the Grove of Light, causing the believing Brahmins and householders of that Grove of Light to lose their faith. Not long after, Shariputra and Maudgalyayana arrived there. The two of them made this vow: "If we do not rescue one sentient being from the lower realms each day, we will not eat." Because of their great vow, through the power of the vow, another being was born in the realm of the gods. He came to the Grove of Light by means of miraculous powers and said, "Why do you not pay homage to these two great Shravakas?" Thus, faith arose. Then those people became angry and said to Kokalika, "Why did you not tell me of such an important matter?" He was extremely tormented by jealousy and made great efforts to find fault with the two of them. Not long after, the two of them entered a cave for the sake of meditation. Two men and one woman, threatened by the autumn rain, also entered that cave. Since the two men had entered first and the woman had come later, the two men saw signs of them enjoying intimacy, and Kokalika spoke evil words, saying that the two noble ones were doing evil deeds. The Blessed One taught, "Kokalika, do not generate disbelief towards Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. They are those who dwell nearby, and they are truthful and practice pure conduct; for a long time, it will bring harm." Even so, Kokalika said, "The Blessed One has placed faith and trust in me, but the Blessed One wishes me to do evil." As soon as he said this, his body was covered with boils the size of mustard seeds, chickpea seeds, pea seeds, crabapple kernels, bilva fruits, and kapittha fruits, and not long after, he was born splitting apart like the great lotus hell. Therefore, the Blessed One spoke three verses. Here, some say that a monk named Argika also came in due time and generated extremely strong harmful thoughts towards the Blessed One. The Blessed One also said that he would die after seven days and fall into hell.
