The sphere of activity of the earth is joy. In that, constantly meditate, constantly subdue others, the steadfast. By steadfastness, the one who achieves supreme bliss, is touching Nirvana. When the wise, through diligence, destroy negligence, at that time, having ascended to the top of the wisdom palace, the one without sorrow looks down upon those with sorrow, and the steadfast upon the peaks of mountains, like that, looking at the children on the earth. Diligence and mindfulness, gentleness, discipline, and restraint, the wise, having made an island, can visibly turn back the great river. Possessing diligence and possessing mindfulness, conduct is pure and acting after examination, truly disciplined, living by the Dharma, the fame of the diligent manifestly increases. Be diligent in higher thought, learn in the places of the capable among the capable, always peaceful, possessing mindfulness, protection is without sorrow. Do not rely on inferior teachings, do not dwell in negligence, have no desire for wrong views, do not increase the world. The true view of worldly people, whoever has greatness, that one, even in thousands of lifetimes, will not turn to bad destinies. One who associates with the negligent is a foolish child with ruined thoughts. Just as a merchant protects his wealth, the wise should possess diligence. Do not associate with the negligent, do not accumulate in sensual pleasures, always apply the mind to diligence, one will attain the exhaustion of outflows. Even if the exhaustion of outflows is not attained, one should not be negligent at this time, just as a lion to a doe, the negligent will be killed. The one who is negligent and indulges in other women, that person will have these four situations: not gaining merit, not sleeping peacefully, thirdly, being reproached, and fourthly, falling into hell. Not gaining merit, going to sinful places, fear and shame together with little happiness, will be punished by the great punishment of the king, the body destroyed, sentient beings will burn in hell. Whoever desires their own happiness, they should act as before. Since it transforms like a child's wooden cart, the steadfast should not weaken diligence. For example, a child's wooden cart, having abandoned the good great road, goes on bad roads, like being blind and regretting in the heart.

Children are under the power of the Lord of Death, They obtain destruction as easily as eyelashes are broken. Whoever abandons the things that should be done, And does the things that should not be done, And is arrogant due to carelessness, The defilements of those increase. Whoever increases defilements, Their freedom from defilements is far away. Whoever has mindfulness connected to the body, Always diligently practices well, Does not do what should not be done, And constantly does what should be done, Possessing mindfulness and awareness, Their defilements are exhausted. Whoever has exhausted defilements, They will attain freedom from defilements. As much as one speaks excessively, They are not holders of the sacred Dharma. Those who have heard little here, But have directly realized the Dharma with their bodies, Those who are careful about the Dharma, They are the holders of the sacred Dharma. Even if one speaks much with reason, Careless and impure, they will not act accordingly. Like a herdsman counting the cattle of others, They do not obtain a share of the ascetic life. Even if one speaks little with reason, And practices the Dharma in accordance with the Dharma, Abandoning desire, hatred, and ignorance, They obtain a share of the ascetic life. Praising diligence and mindfulness, And constantly reproaching carelessness, Diligence is superior to a hundred sacrifices, It becomes the chief among the gods. Whether the action is done or not done, The wise praise diligence. The wise, possessing diligence, Thoroughly take up two meanings. What is the meaning of this life, And what is the meaning of the next life, Because they understand it firmly, Therefore, they are called wise. A monk rejoices in diligence, And sees carelessness as fearful, They lead themselves out of the lower realms, Like an elephant from a mud swamp. A monk rejoices in diligence, And sees carelessness as fearful, They transform sinful things, Like the wind blowing leaves from a tree. A monk rejoices in diligence, And sees carelessness as fearful, All subtle and gross connections, Go like being burned by fire. A monk rejoices in diligence, And sees carelessness as fearful, All connections are completely exhausted, Gradually experiencing peace. A monk rejoices in diligence,
