Whatever performs flattery, even a sixteenth part of it is not enough for those who cherish loving-kindness. Whatever performs a thousand offerings each month, and whatever performs this for a hundred years, even a sixteenth part of it is not enough for the well-spoken Dharma. Whatever little offering and fire offering is made in this world by a person who desires merit, even a quarter of it is not enough for someone who prostrates with an upright mind. The chapter on comparison, the twenty-fourth chapter. The chapter on special statements, the third volume. Those who lack faith and are stingy, and those who are divisive and slanderous, the wise should not regard as friends, and should not associate with sinful people. Those who have faith and speak pleasantly, and those who are learned and disciplined, the wise should befriend, and should associate with excellent people. One should not rely on sinful friends, and one should not rely on bad people. One should rely on virtuous spiritual friends, and one should rely on good people. If one relies on such people, one will not fall into sin, but will become good. Whoever is learned, dwells in many places, is mindful, and has faith and wisdom, one should rely on that person. If one listens to their good words here, one will gain distinction even after a long time. By relying on the inferior, people will decline, and by relying on the mediocre, one will remain in the same state. By relying on the superior, one will attain excellence, therefore, one should rely on the superior. One who has discipline and is close to peace, and who has the most excellent wisdom, if one relies on that superior person, one will become even more superior than the superior. Here, if a person binds fragrant Kusha grass, used for cleaning, to a rotten fish, the Kusha grass itself will also rot, and relying on the sinful is the same. If a person makes a container out of a leaf of a tree for Indian incense, the leaf itself will also become fragrant, and relying on the virtuous is the same. If those who do evil, even if those who do not do evil rely on them, doubts of doing evil will arise, and unpleasant things will also increase. If one relies on someone who should not be relied upon, one will become flawed due to their faults. Just as if poison is applied to a pit and arrows are placed in it, even those that are not poisoned will be contaminated. Relying on those who are fearful of being contaminated by faults, one should not befriend the sinful. How should one rely on friends, how should one closely rely, one should

What is it like to rely on? It will soon become like that. Therefore, like a vessel for fruit, knowing that I rely on a person, do not rely on those who are not virtuous, the wise rely on the virtuous, if you follow the path of that monk, you will attain the exhaustion of suffering. Even if a child relies on a wise person for as long as he lives, he will not know the Dharma, like a spoon tasting the flavor of vegetables. A wise person, even for a moment, by closely relying on a wise person, will know all the Dharmas, like a tongue tasting the flavor of vegetables. Even if a child relies on a wise person for as long as he lives, because he has no eyes, he will not know the Dharmas. A wise person, even for a moment, by closely relying on a wise person, because he has eyes, will fully understand the Dharmas. Even if a child relies on a wise person for as long as he lives, he will not know the Dharma taught by the Fully Enlightened One. A wise person, even for a moment, by closely relying on a wise person, will also know the Dharma taught by the Fully Enlightened One. Even one meaningful word can accomplish the work of the wise, but even the words of all the Buddhas cannot accomplish the work of a fool. A wise person can understand a hundred words with one word, but a fool cannot understand one word with a thousand words. If there are two things that are easy to plan, one should not befriend fools, befriending fools will lead beings to hell. If a fool knows that he is a fool, that person is a true wise person, if a fool thinks that he is wise, that is called a true fool. What is the praise of a fool, what is the slander of a wise person, the slander of a wise person is better than that, the praise of a fool is not acceptable. Relying on a fool is suffering, in all aspects like an enemy, not hearing or seeing fools, not relying on them is good. Just as meeting relatives is pleasant, relying on the steadfast brings happiness, therefore, like the moon in the path of stars, steadfast, learned, a good guide, possessing discipline, with the conduct of the noble ones, a supreme person, compassionate and wise.

I shall rely on it. The twenty-fifth chapter, the assembly of friends. Like a tortoise withdrawing its limbs into its own shell, a monk, having gathered his mind's thoughts inward, Without reliance and without harming others, does not revile anyone towards Nirvana. Patience is the supreme austerity; the Buddha said that patience is Nirvana. A renunciate who harms others and injures others is not a contemplative. Speak no harsh words at all. If you speak, you will be spoken to in return. Contentious words cause suffering, And in return, one is cut off by punishment. If I have harmed others, Like striking a copper vessel, birth and aging in samsara will be experienced for a long time. If I have not harmed others, Like not striking a copper vessel, in this way, strife will not arise, and Nirvana will be attained. Health is the supreme gain; contentment is the wealth of riches. A trustworthy friend is the best, Nirvana is the pinnacle of happiness. Conditioned things are unbearable suffering; among diseases, hunger is the most unbearable. If one knows this as it is, Nirvana becomes supreme. Those who go to happy realms are few, Those who go to bad realms are countless. If one understands such faults, one quickly attains Nirvana. Those who go to happy realms have causes and conditions. Those who go to bad realms have causes and conditions. Going to Nirvana has a cause, All of these have causes and conditions. Deer go to the best forests. Birds go in the sky. Those who meditate on the Dharma go, the Arhats go to Nirvana. Here, those who are weak in diligence, And those who are small-minded and without knowledge, who have completely cut all the knots, will not attain Nirvana. You should bail out the water from this boat, and it will become lighter. Likewise, abandon hatred and desire, and then you will attain Nirvana. What has happened in the past will not happen again, And what has not happened will happen. What has not happened will not happen, And what is happening now is also not there. It is difficult to see, without end, it is not seen there. Realizing the truth, knowing the Dharma, seeing the absence of craving and joy, such a thing is the end of suffering. When all cravings are cut off, And desire is completely abandoned, the lake is dried up and does not flow down.
