Those beings of dull and sharp faculties, whichever they may be, on the path of seeing, the two, namely, those who follow with faith and those who follow with dharma, follow in the fifteen moments of the mind; likewise, on the path of cultivation, starting from the sixteenth moment of the mind, until the smallest of the small faults of the peak of existence, and between the uninterrupted paths, in that interval, there are the two, namely, faith-resolve and attainment of view; likewise, on the path of no more learning, from the knowledge of cessation until the last moment of the mind entering into nirvana, in that interval, there is liberation by time. The cause for being definitely called as possessing this dharma is attainment. Here, undoubtedly, there are three kinds of dharmas, namely, virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. Among them, virtuous is faith and so on; non-virtuous is desire and so on; neutral is emanation mind and so on. Those who have these, they possess this dharma. Its entity is the very possession of this dharma. The dharma that is definitely called the cause is attainment, also called having acquisition. If it is lost, then the noble ones who are completely entangled by desire and so on, because they do not have the uncontaminated mind, will become non-noble ones. Even the childish ones who abide in virtuous and neutral minds will become free from desire. If the attainment of nirvana does not exist, then the childish ones will also become indistinguishable. The followers of the Dharma also become noble ones by generating and possessing these ten dharmas of no more learning, and it is widely proclaimed that they have abandoned the five branches. Furthermore, monks, the Blessed One said, 'This person also possesses virtuous and non-virtuous dharmas.' Seeing the immeasurable accumulation of virtuous and non-virtuous attainments in the mind streams of beings, the Supreme Lord said, 'Monks, do not measure a person, nor set a standard for a person.' This was widely proclaimed. This should be viewed in two ways: not attained, and attained from loss, and possessed after attainment.

Furthermore, the opposite of that should be understood as non-attainment. Both attainment and non-attainment are merely the dharmas that abide in one's own continuum. Since they are not examined individually and separately, both cessations exist as well. Whoever abides in the continuum of another, and those dharmas that are not counted as sentient beings, are not associated with them. Nor is space. Therefore, for them, there is no attainment or non-attainment. Among them, there are three types of attainment: like a shadow following, like a herd of cows following, and like insects following. Among them, the first is for those who are unlabelled. The second is like this: at the time of the connection of dying and transmigrating to be born in the desire realm, and for the virtuous and non-virtuous that belong to the desire realm. The third is like this: for those arising from hearing and thinking, etc., except for the co-emergent. In short, the attainment of form of virtuous and non-virtuous belonging to the desire realm does not have a prior arising. The co-emergent and the later arising do exist. Except for clairvoyance and emanation mind. Also, except for a little from skillful means and deportment. The attainment of all other unobscured and unlabelled, and obscured revealing forms, is merely co-emergent because of weak power, not arising before or after. The remaining three times are each of the three times. Virtuous, non-virtuous, and unlabelled are also virtuous, non-virtuous, and unlabelled themselves, in order. Those belonging to the desire, form, and formless realms belong to their own realms. The stainless is the three realms, and the uncontaminated, that is, the truth of the path, and the unconditioned are the stainless ones. Among them, the attainment not by individual examination is the three realms. The cessation by individual examination, attained by the path of the form and formless realms, belongs to there itself. What is attained by the uncontaminated path, and the truth of the path, is uncontaminated. If summarized, it becomes four types: the three realms and the uncontaminated.
