Thus. That which is called one aspect of the touchable and the non-cognitive, is: that which has become one aspect of the touchable is one aspect of the touchable. Because it is to be touched, it is called touchable. That is eleven, that is, in terms of substance, it is the nature of eleven. This is a summary term, namely the four great elements and the seven such as smoothness. Among these, when explaining the form that arises from the great elements, the great elements are first mentioned, and then one aspect of the touchable is mentioned. That which arises from the elements is everything from the eye and so on up to the non-cognitive. That which is said to arise from the elements is that which shows the existing object. Among these, in "the eye is," etc., the term "among these" is for the purpose of distinguishing. The eye here is distinct from the ear and other things, that is, it is the nature of manifestation itself. In order to cut off places such as those that have not appeared before, and gods and heavens, it is mentioned before the ear sense power and so on. Thus, it is said that it is because it can reach far away. The reason why it is said that "it is" is that it is the object of the three: the true fleshly eye, the divine eye, and the eye of the wisdom of the noble ones. That which is called like the support of eye consciousness is like the support, so it is called like the support. Because it becomes the support for understanding the true nature of things as they are, it is the conceptual thought of the inner limbs themselves. The object of the place of consciousness is the change of the eye here, which changes according to clarity and obscurity, just as the shadow changes when the tree changes. All objects that transcend the senses can be inferred to exist by means of cause and effect. Those that transcend the senses are the eye and so on. It is said that these exist because they are the object of the result, such as eye consciousness and so on. Although the consciousness of the eye and so on depends on the arising of the two, the eye consciousness and so on are shown by the eye and so on, but not by form and so on, because they are not common, like the sound of a drum. For example, the hand and so on are the common cause of the sound of the drum, the cymbal, and so on, but the drum is not like that, the drum itself is the cause of the sound. Therefore, the sound of the drum is produced by itself.
