That which individually distinguishes is the individual distinguishing itself. For example, having seen with the eye, it is distinguished by consciousness. That consciousness also transforms into six types due to the difference in objects. For example, it differs due to the difference in types of trees, like 'fire of grass and straw.' Its definition is 'the Blessed One himself,' which is synonymous with 'spoken by the Blessed One.' What is that? It is what is said, 'to distinguish with various knowledge.' 'Said at the time of thinking about the definition' refers to the time of thinking about the definition of birth, etc. What is said? The internal limb is birth. The external limbs are causes and conditions. What are those causes? What are the conditions? Saying those is 'the cause is six.' In the sutra, it says, 'There are four conditions: causal condition, immediately preceding condition, objective condition, and dominant condition. Four conditions are spoken, but are the causes not spoken? This is not a fault, because in the sixth case, the sutra of cause that was spoken has disappeared and was concealed by the gods. Or, in other sutras, the causes are also spoken, such as the spoken associated cause, which is that the faith arising from the root of seeing is associated with understanding and knowledge. Similarly, the co-emergent cause is shown, which is that whatever form it may be, all of it is the four great elements. The equal share cause is also spoken, which is that there are those who possess even the smallest amount of virtuous roots, and from that virtuous root, other virtuous roots arise. The pervasive cause is also spoken, which is that wrong conceptions arise from wrong views, etc. The ripening cause is also spoken, which is that, monks, if you see a being who kills, you should know that you see a hell being or any hell being. Monks, if you see a being who has abandoned killing, you should know that you think you see a deva or any deva.'

Furthermore, the cause of action is also stated: eye consciousness arises in dependence on the eye and form. Monks, in this way, the eye is the master, and forms are the objects. Among them, what is called mind and mental factors refers to mind and mental factors, therefore it is mind and mental factors. What is called mutual means one to another. Because they hold the same object, they operate together, therefore they are corresponding. Correspondence itself is correspondence, it is both correspondence and cause, so it is the cause of correspondence. To show the analogy, it is said, "For example, the mind is feelings and even wisdom, etc.," which is the cause of correspondence. The word "etc." encompasses the mind and so on. Rain and so on are also the corresponding cause of the mind. For example, the disc of the sun does not exist without rays. Similarly, the mind does not exist without feelings and so on. In "mutual fruit" and so on, whatever is mutually the fruit is the mutual fruit, that is, the fruit of one is one, in this way to show. Arising together is arising together, which is a synonym for "arising together." Arising together itself is the cause, so it is the cause of arising together. Here, to show the analogy, it is said, "For example, the elements are each other's cause," wherein the earth element arises in dependence on the three, water, etc. Water, etc., also arise in dependence on earth, these are the things of cause and effect. The basis of characteristics is form, etc. The nature of characteristics is birth, etc. What is called "the mind is also of those who follow the mind" means that those who have the state of following the mind are the followers of the mind. Although the cause of arising together and correspondence are similar, to show the difference, it is said, "by mutual power," that is, the power of one is one. For example, just as many guests cannot pass through the wilderness of the road without relying on each other.

Therefore, these dharmas cannot arise without depending on each other just because they are momentary. This is the cause of co-emergence. Many guests enter from the temples on the road, and they are connected to each other like being connected by road rations. The so-called "connected by road rations" refers to one and another, and others and others. In this way, they arise as if accomplishing each other closely. In this way, they are in accordance with the dharma of being connected by road rations. That is to say, mind and mental factors are understood from the objects of cause and effect because they abide closely to each other, just like being bound by intention and becoming one. Therefore, they are called "concomitant," not arising, etc. They are non-concomitant, just like not being bound by intention, they do not rely on accomplishing and benefiting each other closely. Here, merely being co-emergent is sufficient to be understood as the cause. What are those referred to as "followers of the mind"? Therefore, it is said "all mental factors," etc., which refers to feeling, etc. The so-called "characteristics of conditioned phenomena" refers to arising, etc. If one thinks, what are the characteristics of conditioned phenomena that follow the mind? Therefore, it is said, "Whatever belongs to that mind," which refers to the mental factors just mentioned above, as well as meditation, as well as undefiled discipline, and the arising, etc., of that mind. If one thinks, why are they called followers of the mind? Therefore, it is said, "They are together with the mind," etc., which refers to the same time, the same arising, the same abiding, and the same cessation. Among them, the so-called same time, etc., refers to the past mind with past things, the present things with present things, and the future things with future things; they do not enter at other times. Arising at the same time, so it is the same arising; abiding at the same time; ceasing at the same time, so time and arising and abiding and ceasing are the same. Those who have these, their time and arising and
