The place of is the manifestation of meaning in language. Similar to the place of meaning, it is like the place of meaning. Therefore, like this, whatever are the aspects like the place of meaning, those are the aspects like the place of meaning, which is a synonym for "appearing as meaning." Similar to knowledge, so it is like knowledge. For example, just as knowledge arises in the aspect transformed by external objects such as blue, those are also the same, the names of pot etc. are the very image of the aspect such as the neck facing upwards. Therefore, knowable things are also like knowledge. The so-called "making one's own meaning understood," that is both self and meaning, so it is one's own meaning, that is, the external object. Understanding is comprehension, which is a synonym for "certainty." Whatever makes one's own meaning understood, those are it. That is to say, names etc. are momentary, so even the doers are not separate from it. Only their arising is the doer, it will be explained like this. As it is said: All phenomena are momentary, where is the impermanent doer? Whatever arises is the doer, the doer is what it is called. Thus it is said. The so-called "consciousness, language, and the seeds of letters, are other names to be expressed," consciousness, language, and the seeds of letters are consciousness, language, and the seeds of letters. That is both a name and another, so it is another name, which is a synonym for "other name." The seeds of consciousness, language, and letters themselves are another name, so it is another name for the seeds of consciousness, language, and letters. What the other names of the seeds of consciousness, language, and letters are to express are the other names of the seeds of consciousness, language, and letters. Which ones? Those are the ones called names, words, and seeds of letters. Those should also be understood in this way. Therefore, name and consciousness are said to be one. Word is language. Letter is the seeds of letters. In order to show the previously mentioned meaning with a metaphor, for example, relying on the eyes, etc., etc.

Eyes, etc., are relied upon, and the arising of those consciousnesses is from the mouths of both. Although consciousness arises, it is expressed by the senses because it is a unique cause. The so-called "things" such as form, etc., include sounds, etc., with the sound of "etc." What are the forms of the so-called "place of reason"? They are the various consciousnesses. To understand one's own meaning is to understand form, etc. In the sentence "the sound of language cannot express things," language itself is sound, so it is the sound of language. That sound of language cannot express things, cannot state. Why? Because saying "fire" will be burned. Here, the sound of language is an obvious expression. What should be expressed is the name. Things are neither what should be expressed nor what is expressed. If the sound of language becomes the thing that should be expressed, then it will be burned. How is it? Here, does the sound grasp the thing after touching it, or does it grasp it without touching it? Among them, it is not possible to grasp the thing without touching it. Because sound is obstructed, like hands, etc. Hands, etc., have no power to grasp touch without touching. If, like the nose, etc., one wants to grasp the thing after touching it, then if one touches fire, the sound will have the fault of being burned. Because sound is the nature of the aggregation of minute particles. Therefore, it is established that language cannot express things. If one thinks that things are not what should be expressed, then what is it? Therefore, "language" is spoken. The sound of language expresses the name. The name makes things understood. Because it is to generate understanding of it. Name is not a statement, so it is not an expression. Because name is unobstructed like consciousness, etc., name understands things, not through the sound of kinds, because it is obstructed like eyes, etc. The so-called "other than that" is other than sound, because permanence is not established for Buddhists. The so-called four dharmas are the sound of a pot, the name of a pot, the thing of a pot, and the knowledge of a pot. At the time of applying names, multiple entities are also one entity.
