It is impossible to abide at that time. When in the context of the characteristic of impermanence, this "able to harm" and so on is mentioned. Aging is able to harm the projection of the second fruit and so on. The cause of projection when the Dharma has passed away is impermanence itself. "Conditioned" means that it is conditioned because causes and conditions are gathered and assembled. That is, objects such as form, that is, those that completely cut off the understanding of form and so on, are called the characteristics of the conditioned. To explain the meaning of "characteristics of the conditioned," the Sutra Pitaka is cited as the source, that is, "these three" and so on. Abiding and changing are abiding and changing, that is, aging. Abiding and changing are shown as one characteristic. Why? Because abiding is the place of complete attachment. If aging seizes abiding, then complete attachment to it will cease. Among "Glorious Goddess" and so on, the word "black-faced mother" indicates decline. As it is said, "The end of all prosperity is decline." Dharma is form and so on. What is not transformed into self-nature is transformed into other meanings. That is to say, form and so on themselves are not birth and so on. If it becomes self-nature, then it will become otherness, which is stating the fault of saying it is not otherness. The basis of the characteristic is form and so on. The characteristics are birth and so on. What is not different is the same. If that is the case, then aging and abiding will also become the same, because they themselves are not different. This is not seen, because they are contradictory. The so-called "merely not arising" means that if it is not existent, then how can Dharma arise? Without a cause, there is no seeing of the arising of a result. Therefore, arising causes Dharma to arise, abiding causes it to abide, aging causes it to age, and impermanence causes it to disintegrate. If the characteristics that arise together with the basis of the characteristic perform an action, then at that time, is this arising? Is it abiding? Is it aging? Or is it disintegrating? What is it like? It is said that the future arising is acting, acting

The term "able" refers to ability. Among these, the three dharmas are considered to be future actions. The forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering, a lamp, and birth. When the forbearance of knowing the Dharma of suffering arises, the respective beings are completely abandoned. At the time of arising, they are completely abandoned. When a lamp arises, darkness is dispelled. At the time of arising, it is dispelled. When birth arises, for those that arise together, the act of generating with an object that corresponds to birth is birth. When birth arises, it has arisen. What has arisen is generated by birth. It abides by the power of abiding. When abiding by the power of abiding, aging causes aging, and impermanence causes destruction. It is not after aging, nor after destruction, that aging and destruction occur. Therefore, there is no contradiction in the fact that abiding and so on occur simultaneously. Abiding is aged by aging, and impermanence causes destruction. "Of characteristics," and so on, such as the birth of characteristics like birth, is the birth of birth. Those that are "and so on," those are the birth of birth, and so on. By mentioning "and so on," it completely includes the abiding of abiding, the aging of aging, and the impermanence of impermanence itself. These four are the characteristics that follow the characteristics, and therefore are the conforming characteristics. If one also desires aging for aging, then that would be something else again, and it would become endless. Therefore, it is said, "From this, it will not become endless either." Why? It is said: Like this, the fundamental characteristics refer to the characteristics of the Dharma. Entering these eight dharmas means abiding in the reality of the cause. The fundamental Dharma and the three characteristics, and the four conforming characteristics, like that, enter these eight dharmas. The conforming characteristics are for each one, meaning they tend towards entering. How is it? It is said that the birth of birth is birth itself, and so on. The characteristics abide in the fundamental Dharma. The conforming characteristics abide in the characteristics. Like this, therefore it is said.
