It arises from the cause of cultivation. For example, life arises from food, and the ox transforms from roots. By approximation, the fruit of true meditation is obtained. As it is said in the scriptures, "From meditation or approximation, the ninth liberation path arises." Although it can be said like this, it is very difficult to transfer abilities, because knowing the minds of others is the fruit of true meditation. "Similar to knowing" means similar to one's own nature, that is, those with outflows know those with outflows, and those without outflows know the mind and mental factors without outflows. Although this is the case, because it corresponds to the mind, it is taught from the perspective of the mind. When the mind is understood, it is not the understanding of the dharmas arising from the mind, because each thing is its own object. How does one know a mind with desire? There are two kinds of desire: corresponding desire and mixed desire. Among them, mixed desire is manifest, and corresponding desire is the connection of attainment. Here, it should be understood as grasping mixed desire, just as one cannot grasp clothes and dirt at the same time. This is not observing the object, and the scriptures also say that one knows attachment, but not attachment to a specific object. For the outflowless, it is the aspect of the truth of the path. Except for all uninterrupted paths, because it has great joy and attention. Therefore, the path of seeing is not cultivation, because the path of seeing has renunciation. Among them, the first dhyana ground can know two grounds, and similarly, the fourth dhyana ground can know up to five grounds. The so-called outflowless also has two types, namely the category of dharma knowledge and the category of subsequent knowledge. Among them, the category of dharma knowledge can know the category of dharma knowledge, but cannot know the category of subsequent knowledge, because dharma knowledge abides in the lower ground, and subsequent knowledge is based on the upper ground.

It is not the aspect of knowing. The unpolluted is superior, therefore the polluted cannot know. If so, why can't the unpolluted know the polluted? Because the unpolluted possesses the supreme joyful attention. The polluted is an object of aversion. Those without form cannot know without making effort, because they know the minds of others. The superior ground cannot be known, just as one in the first dhyana cannot know the ground of the second dhyana. The superior faculty is such that even if the ground is the same, the dull faculty cannot know what arises from the sharp faculty. The superior individual cannot know, just as a Shravaka cannot know the continuum of a Pratyekabuddha, and a Pratyekabuddha cannot know the continuum of a Tathagata. Does that mean that the superior faculty itself can understand? There is no fault in this, because the faculty belongs to those in one's own ground and to learners. Mentioning the individual indicates what does not belong to the ground, and also shows the past and future. A Shravaka knows two moments from the path of seeing, namely the forbearance of the knowledge of Dharma in suffering and the forbearance of the knowledge of subsequent realization on the path. Why is that? Because the path of seeing proceeds very quickly, and as soon as one begins to practice at another time, that moment disappears. A Pratyekabuddha knows three moments, the third being the moment of the knowledge of subsequent realization in the origin. The Bhagavan knows all moments even without practice. One who abides in the path of seeing is said in the scriptures to abide in the signless. Alternatively, the different faculties are elaborated and shown by the individual mentioned alone. If that is so, how should the sutra passage where the gods say, "This bhikshu has entered the stream in order to realize the fruit of stream-entry" be interpreted? The Vaibhashikas say that it is done for the sake of joy. Then, why is someone who has entered the stream in order to realize the fruit of stream-entry called a food offering? Therefore, giving food is referred to as the sound of food. What is conventional wisdom? The answer is: wisdom with outflows.
