Oviparous beings are like birds, fish, and the five hundred sons of the King of Five Acquisitions. Those born from warmth and moisture are like worms born from carrion. Spontaneous birth refers to the beings of the first kalpa. Dragons also have four modes of birth, as stated in the Lokaprajñapti: 'The garuda born from eggs appears to eat the dragons born from eggs.' Similarly, 'The garuda born spontaneously eats the dragons born spontaneously,' and so on. The bodies of spontaneously born beings are very subtle, like the exhaustion of sesame oil in a lamp, are they not? Because it is not known, there is no eating. Pretas are born from the womb and spontaneously, as the pretas themselves say: 'We are born from karma, not from a birthplace.' Then, why do Bodhisattvas who have attained the ten powers rely on the birthplace of womb-born beings? Because the Shakya clan is great, and through kinship, it is easy to generate joy in the Dharma. Even if they become humans, they can attain perfection, in order to generate joy in taming. 'The earth is eleven,' which is also taught by those who are in meditative absorption. The desire realm is called 'earth' because it is the source of all seeds, and because qualities such as taming the senses are related to it. 'Invincible' means that what is to come is what is to come. What is not to come is what is not to come, meaning that it is not obtained through birth, it is the mind that enters the first dhyana. It has three aspects: afflicted, with outflows, and without outflows. The first dhyana is known to have five branches: vitarka (conceptualization), vicara (analysis), joy, happiness, and one-pointedness of mind. For example, like the later dhyana with five branches, the dhyana with five branches is also the same. The second dhyana is great joy. This is also the Dharma of the nature of faith, because this Dharma also arises from those in samadhi, so it is particularly grand and is established as a limb, as well as joy, happiness, and one-pointedness of mind.

It is unique. That is to be known as bliss that is extremely cultivated. The third dhyana has five branches: equanimity, mindfulness, vigilance, bliss, and samadhi. The fourth dhyana has four branches: a feeling that is neither suffering nor pleasure, and completely pure equanimity, which is the equanimity of action, and completely pure mindfulness, and samadhi. The fourth dhyana is completely liberated from eight faults. What are those faults? They are discursive thought, analysis, inhalation, exhalation, pleasure, suffering, joy, and sorrow. Those dhyanas should also be known as being afflicted, with outflows, without outflows, and endowed with the five aggregates. Among them, the fault of discursive thought and analysis is destroyed by fire. The fault of joy is destroyed by water. The fault of inhalation and exhalation is destroyed by wind. Among them, after fire has destroyed seven times, water will destroy. If this is done, the statement that the lifespan of those who have the view of luminosity can last for eight kalpas will become reasonable. In this way, destruction by fire is forty-nine times. Destruction by water is seven times, so those destructions are fifty-six times in total. After that, fire will destroy seven times. After that, it will be destroyed by wind. If this is done, the statement in the Treatise on Establishments that the lifespan of the gods of Increasing Merit can last for sixty-four kalpas is well-spoken. The three formless realms are afflicted, virtuous with outflows, and without outflows, and are the nature of the four aggregates and the antidote to the lower grounds. Among them, regarding the statement that the desire realm and the peak of existence are solely with outflows, if it is said that the desire realm is defiled by the root of non-virtue and is a ground that is not stable, so it is permissible to be with outflows, then how can the peak of existence be solely with outflows? Because of the weakness of consciousness. The remainder is established as being with outflows and without outflows. If the peak of existence is solely with outflows, then how can a noble person born there abandon afflictions?
