It is the logic of words. What is called the mind's clinging is clinging by clinging, being attached to the Dharma, gain, and the wise, wanting not to be separated from the preceding Dharma and so on. What is incompatible with generosity, the Dharma that is the similar cause of craving, is stinginess. The meaning of what is called pervasive connection is the meaning of bondage, and those called pervasive connections are those that pervasively connect. What is called not pervasively connecting to eye-forms and so on is another name for bondage. What is called desire's attachment, desire is manifest desire. Attachment is manifest attachment. Manifest attachment preceded by manifest desire is desire's attachment. Although white is not black, what has dependence and so on in that place is called pervasive connection. The Blessed One also spoke of the three bonds in the sutras for the sake of taming. Because they are bound in the prison of existence by these, they are the bonds. It is another name for the interruption of the continuum of detachment from desire. The three bonds shown there are the aspects of joy and inferiority, and entering from the opposite of the two, all afflictions are greatly shown. Those who enter into the aspect of joy are pride and so on, shown by desire. Those who enter into the aspect of inferiority are doubt and so on, shown by hatred. Those who enter from the opposite of the two are lethargy and so on, shown by ignorance. What is called in desires is being attached by being attached to forms and so on. What is called seeing suffering is seeing the object of suffering or the aspect of suffering. These are the Dharma-knowledge of suffering and the forbearance of subsequent knowledge. What is abandoned by those two is what is to be abandoned by seeing suffering. What is called abandoning is removing it from that continuum, cutting off the stream of gain, and generating gain apart from it. Just as what is to be abandoned by seeing suffering is the same up to what is to be abandoned by seeing the path. Cultivation is making knowledge familiar by relying on an unspecified object and a special result, and the desire to be abandoned by it is to be abandoned by cultivation.
