Thus. Although greatly involved, yet regarding as small with a small fraction, how small, thus not regarding me, but regarding as smaller than that by a small fraction. What is the state of pride here called 'small'? It means that although the aggregates of sentient beings are extremely small with the best desires, they still have a great deal of pride. This is the pride of thinking 'a little'. As for saying 'although possessing non-qualities', the enemies of qualities are the misdeeds of body, speech, and mind, which are non-qualities. Whoever has these is the one possessing non-qualities. Even having become like that, they still have the pride of thinking 'I possess qualities'. Being proud with misdeeds is wrong pride. What is the difference between manifest pride and wrong pride, where one is proud of thinking 'although I have no qualities, I do'? It means that being proud with the habit of similar qualities is manifest pride. Having completely conceived of non-qualities as qualities, being proud with that is wrong pride. The so-called 'unknowing of the three realms' means abiding in the three realms, not focusing on the three realms. Otherwise, if the cessation of the unpolluted and the path, etc., have not fallen into the realm, then not knowing that object would be a fault that is not included here. The so-called 'characteristic of non-understanding' is the characteristic of not understanding the self-nature of things. That alone is the characteristic, not tending towards understanding, it is the Dharma that obstructs seeing the true meaning. Like the example of a blind person, saying 'like this', 'like this' is a metaphor. For example, like a blind person who has no ability to see whether the ground is flat and comfortable or uncomfortable, ignorance is also like that. For the sake of establishing the antidote to negation, saying 'for the sake of establishing the antidote to negation', etc. If ignorance is called 'without knowledge', then it becomes without substance. If ignorance is called 'knowledge of defamation', then it becomes the self-nature of view, so it is not reasonable to be the same as view. If ignorance is called 'non-knowledge', then the eyes, etc., would also become excessive. Therefore, it shows incompatibility. It means turning away from knowledge, like non-dharma and non-meaning, and unfriendly and unnecessary, etc.

Therefore, this refutation tends towards inconsistency. The so-called 'five aggregates of clinging,' where 'clinging' refers to afflictions. The aggregates that arise from afflictions are the aggregates of clinging, and they are also form, etc. This excludes the aggregates without outflows. 'No-self' means not the nature of self. 'No-self' means not becoming an instrument of another's self. 'View of the perishable collection' means observing the collection of perishables, which is a synonym for the five aggregates of clinging as objects. Even if one has entered into a state of having a self, it cannot be called 'self-view' because there is no self. To show that there is an object, 'view of the perishable collection' is spoken. It is perishable and also a collection, so it is a perishable collection. Perishable is the nature of change. Collection is a synonym for 'gathering.' Or it is 'existence,' a synonym for 'having many.' Because it has entered into a state of having a self, but it is non-existent, its object will become non-existent, so for this reason, 'existence' is spoken. To dispel the thought that if it becomes an object, the existence of self will be established, 'collection' is spoken. Those who claim to have a self think that each body has one self, or that all bodies have one self, so it is not a collection. 'Not annihilation' means that until complete nirvana without remaining aggregates is attained, the continuity of the stream will not be completely annihilated, so it is said to be not annihilation. 'Not permanent' means not constant, because it perishes in every moment. 'On those themselves' refers to those who consider the five aggregates of clinging to be 'self.' 'Annihilation' refers to the extreme of annihilation, which is clinging to the belief that after death, the self will not arise again. 'Permanent' means constant, thinking that the self will not die, but its aggregates are like a snake's skin and will be discarded, which is clinging to the extreme of permanence. In this way, what is the difference in the wisdom of the forms of annihilation and permanence? It is the difference in wisdom. This is in accordance with liberation, so it was not prophesied, and the Blessed One also said, arising
