The place of origin and discipline, direction and time, are all like being far apart. Being far apart in nature is like the great elements arising together, but being far apart due to their different natures. Being far apart by antidote is like discipline arising from the discipline of immorality. Being far apart by location is because the locations of kalpas are completely cut off from each other. Being far apart by time is like the past and the future. If you ask: Since the path goes differently, do the abandonments of the afflictions also repeatedly become different? The answer is no. All afflictions are exhausted once. Whatever path abandons them, it is exhausted by that alone. When and when are the attainments of their separation? The answer is: There are six: the arising of the antidote, the attainment of the fruit, and the increase of the faculties. The antidote is the path of liberation. The fruits are the fruits of the ascetic. The increase of the faculties is the transformation of the faculties. At those times, the separation from afflictions is attained. That separation also obtains the name "complete knowledge" at those times. These are also the nine complete knowledges. Of these, for the time being, in the desire realm: The first two are exhausted and one. In the desire realm, the abandonment of the first two aspects, which are to be abandoned by seeing suffering and arising, is one to be completely known. The two that are exhausted are those two. Only in the desire realm, the abandonment of the aspects to be abandoned by seeing cessation and path is the second complete knowledge. Just as the conduct in the desire realm is, so are the three higher realms. Thus, the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by seeing in the three realms is the six complete knowledges. There are three other complete knowledges: the form that is in accordance with the final part, and the exhaustion of all outflows. The complete knowledge of abandoning the outflows of the desire realm, the complete knowledge of abandoning the outflows of the form realm, and the complete knowledge of abandoning all outflows, these are the three complete knowledges of abandoning what is to be abandoned by meditation. Together with the previous six, they become nine. Of these, six are the fruits of forbearance, the former ones. The remaining ones are wisdom, the latter three. The uninterrupted result is all the results. The five or eight of the meditations.

According to the Vaibhāṣika school, the fruit of meditation is five kinds of complete knowledge, namely the nature of abandoning afflictions that operate in the form and formless realms. The venerable Śrīlāta's school holds that there are eight, because by being free from desire, the objects to be abandoned by the path of seeing that operate in the desire realm are also abandoned, and in order to obtain the undefiled attainment of separation, it is considered the fruit of the path of seeing. The complete knowledge of abandonment that corresponds to the final part is only the fruit of the invincible. Special meditation should also be regarded as meditation. For the formless realms, one is the proximity, which is the complete knowledge of the exhaustion of desire for form. For the three actual formless realms, there is only one, which is the complete knowledge of completely destroying all bonds is also the fruit. All are fruits of the noble path. The mundane fruit is the one that corresponds to the final part, and the complete knowledge of the exhaustion of desire for form. The fruit of the subsequent knowledge of the two is also two kinds of complete knowledge, namely the final part. There are three kinds of dharma knowledge, only the final part. There are six and five that are in accordance with it. The fruit in accordance with dharma knowledge is six kinds of complete knowledge, namely what are the fruits of the patience and wisdom of dharma. What is in accordance with subsequent knowledge is five, namely what are the fruits of subsequent patience and wisdom. Why are each abandonment not separately established as complete knowledge? In this way, for the time being, the fruit of patience is separation, the attainment of separation is undefiled, and the peak of existence is destroyed, and because the two causes are completely destroyed, it is established in complete knowledge. For the time being, for ordinary beings, there is no undefiled attainment of separation, nor is there a destruction of the peak of existence. For the noble ones, as long as they abide in the patience of subsequent knowledge of suffering, there is the undefiled attainment of separation, but there is no destruction of the peak of existence. The subsequent knowledge of suffering has both. The complete destruction of the two causes is not, because for dharma and subsequent knowledge, the other three all have it.
