Hatred and ignorance. These are also the three ways of being bound by feelings. For example, for pleasant feelings, desire increases through attachment and corresponding states. From suffering arises hatred. For feelings that are neither pleasant nor painful, it is ignorance. Desire and hatred are not like that. Or, it is determined through the objects that exist in one's own continuum. Subtle afflictions are just those that have been mentioned before. Next, the near afflictions will be discussed. Among them, those that are afflictions are also near afflictions, because they make the mind close to afflictions. Other than afflictions, those that belong to afflictions, mental factors and the aggregate of formations, these are also near afflictions. But they are not called afflictions. They also arise from subtle sources. Here, only what is included in pervasiveness and the stains of affliction will be shown. First, shamelessness and lack of shame, jealousy, stinginess, excitement, regret, drowsiness, and sleep, these eight are pervasive. Some also think that in addition to these eight, there are anger and concealment, making a total of ten. Among them, jealousy is the inner disturbance of the mind towards the perfections of others. Stinginess is the opposition to the extreme giving of Dharma, wealth, and the wise, it is the clinging of the mind. Excitement is the mind not being pacified. Sleep is the mind contracting when the body cannot be properly maintained. These and regret themselves are afflictive pervasive factors. Anger refers to the continuous tormenting of sentient and non-sentient beings, apart from the intention to harm and injure. Concealment is hiding faults. Some near afflictions have been mentioned before, so they will not be distinguished in detail here. Among these pervasive factors, desire gives rise to shamelessness, excitement, and stinginess. These three are the homogeneous cause of desire. Concealment is disputed. Some say it is the homogeneous cause of craving. Others say it is the homogeneous cause of ignorance. Still others say it is both, because they are for those who know and do not know. From ignorance arise drowsiness, sleep, and shame.

There is not. These three are the homogeneous cause of ignorance. Regret and anger arise from doubt, and jealousy arises from the cause of anger. Anger is completely aroused. Thus, these ten near afflictions are the homogeneous cause of afflictions. Furthermore, there are six defilements of affliction: deceit and flattery, arrogance, as well as anger and resentment, and harm. Deceit is deceiving others. Flattery is a mind that is not upright. Arrogance has been explained before. Anger is tightly grasping things that are faulty. Holding a grudge is repeatedly retaliating against things that cause mental suffering. Harm is harming each other. Among these six defilements of affliction, deceit and arrogance arise from desire, resentment and harm arise from anger. Anger arises from holding wrong views, and flattery is completely aroused by views. After explaining the homogeneous cause, what should be abandoned will be explained. From that, shamelessness and lack of embarrassment, dullness, sleep, and excitement, these five dharmas are to be abandoned by seeing and meditating. Other than that, it is to be abandoned by meditation. Jealousy and stinginess, regret and anger, and concealment are to be abandoned by meditation. Independence. Because they are similar to ignorance alone, these five near afflictions are also independent. Likewise, those stains. The six defilements of affliction are also the same. The near afflictions as described above are: In the desire realm, there are three and two kinds of unwholesome. Dullness and agitation are two kinds of unwholesome and indeterminate. Above that is indeterminate. Above the desire realm, each situation is different. Among these, how many are where? In the desire realm and the first dhyana, this deceit and flattery are in the desire realm and the first dhyana. How does deceit exist in the Brahma world? Because Brahma deceives. The Great Brahma shows himself everywhere with a reversed self, so he participated in deceiving the venerable Ashvajit. Dullness, agitation, and arrogance are in the three realms. These three are in the three realms. The others are all born from the desire realm. Ten near afflictions
