That is not inverted. Other afflictions do not necessarily involve discrimination, so they are not inverted. In the sutras, perception, mind, and view are said to be inverted, but only view is inverted. Mind and perception are influenced by it. Due to the influence of inverted view, it is said that perception and mind are inverted. Furthermore, is it only the subtle distinctions of view that have classifications, or are there none in others? There are, as follows: the seven prides. Pride, excessive pride, pride beyond pride, the pride of 'I am,' conceit, false pride, and wrong pride. Among these, feeling arrogant towards someone inferior to oneself, thinking oneself superior or equal, or thinking oneself equal to them, is pride. Thinking oneself superior to someone equal is excessive pride. Thinking oneself superior even to someone superior is pride beyond pride. Preceded by the view of the aggregates, thinking 'I am,' is the pride of 'I am.' Thinking that one has attained a distinction of realization that one has not attained is conceit. Thinking that one is only slightly inferior to someone extremely superior is false pride. Thinking that one possesses qualities when one does not possess them is wrong pride. What are the nine aspects of pride explained in the treatises? They are nine types of three categories. Among these, the first three are based on the view that one is superior, equal, or inferior: excessive pride, pride, and false pride. The second three are the belief that there are those superior, equal, or inferior to oneself, namely false pride, pride, and excessive pride. The third three are the belief that there are none superior, equal, or inferior to oneself, namely pride, excessive pride, and false pride. So, what should these seven prides be abandoned with? They are to be exhausted by seeing and meditating. Do all those that should be abandoned by meditation but have not been abandoned by the noble ones continue to exist? It is not certain; for example, what should be abandoned by meditation is the affliction of killing, etc., which is completely entangled.
