The opposite of not lying has been explained. Furthermore, why, among the transgressions that have been prescribed, is nothing other than drinking intoxicants established as the basis of this precept? The transgressions that have been prescribed are solely intoxicants. Why? In order to protect others. If intoxicants are consumed, then other limbs will also not be protected. From where does one obtain one of these three vows? Does one also obtain the remainder from that? No. However, all that is included in desire is obtained from both, and in that way from those. 'Included in desire' refers to the Pratimoksha vow. 'From all' refers to the preparatory action, the actual action, and the concluding action. 'From both' refers to showing sentient and non-sentient beings, and transgressions that possess inherent nature. Because it enters into the basis of sentient beings, it is obtained only from the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of the present time, and not from those of the past and future, because those are not counted as sentient beings. The Samadhi and non-contaminated vows are from all actual actions and times. The Samadhi and non-contaminated vows are obtained only from the actual path of action, not from the preparatory and concluding actions, let alone the prescribed transgressions. It is obtained from the aggregates, elements, and sense bases of all times. Furthermore, are vows and non-vows obtained from all sentient beings, all limbs, and all causes? Or what is the difference? For the time being, definitely, vows are obtained from all sentient beings, but there is a difference in limbs and causes. Among them, the vows of a Bhikshu are obtained from all. Others are obtained from the basis. The paths of action come from the limbs of the vows. In terms of causes, some types are from all, if non-attachment, non-hatred, and non-ignorance are the causes. Some are from one, if one considers carefulness, etc., as the cause. All non-vows are not from all limbs and causes. There is no incomplete non-vow. It is not from all causes, because carefulness, etc., do not arise simultaneously. Having explained from where one obtains them, next, how one obtains them will be explained.
