Desiring to arise (in this samadhi), one must desire to arise in it and enter into it. The unconscious realm is a result of maturation, therefore it is established as indeterminate. This is virtuous. Although it is virtuous, it is only experienced after arising. It is not experienced in the present life or in other lifetimes, nor is it undetermined. Moreover, it is considered to be only for ordinary beings, not for noble ones. The noble ones regard it as a place of downfall, therefore they do not enter into it. Although this is without mind, it is to be accomplished with great effort, therefore it is attained at one time. Only the present moment is attained. As for the second moment and so on, as long as it is attained, it is associated with the past. How is the samadhi of unconsciousness? Cessation is also the same. The statement "cessation of mind and mental factors" should be connected only with that. In particular, for the purpose of abiding, one enters into this samadhi through the mental activity of manifesting the perception of peace. Moreover, that is the realm of the fourth dhyana, while this is born in the peak of existence. This is virtuous. It is only virtuous, not afflicted, nor indeterminate. Although it is virtuous, there are two kinds of experience, and it is undetermined. Because it is experienced after arising, and experienced from other lifetimes, therefore it is two times, and because it is a result of maturation, it is also not undetermined. Moreover, this is entirely for noble ones. Even for noble ones, it is not to be attained by detachment from desire, but it is attained by effort. This is only to be attained by effort, so neither the past nor the future can be attained, because it is attained by the power of the mind. If it is said, is the Bhagavan also produced from effort? The answer is no. However, it is attained by the enlightenment of the Sage. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, attain this at the same time as they attain the knowledge of cessation. The Westerners say that it is only produced in the initial stage when a Bodhisattva is learning. The Kashmiris say that it is not initial. Why? Because it is attained by thirty-four moments.

A Bodhisattva attains enlightenment with thirty-four moments of mind. When realizing the truth, there are sixteen. When separating from the desire of the peak of existence, in order to abandon the nine aspects of affliction, ninety-nine (eighty-one) uninterrupted paths and liberation paths are generated. Therefore, during this period, different minds are impossible, so the samadhi of cessation is not allowed. These two samadhis have many differences, but both rely on the desire realm and the form realm. Also, cessation first occurs among humans. The samadhi of cessation first arises among humans. Later, those who had previously completely declined also arise in the form realm. The samadhis have been explained. Life is duration. Because it is not known what the dharma called duration is, warmth and consciousness are the basis. Whatever is the cause of the dharma that is the basis of warmth and consciousness, that is life. Life has been explained. Characteristics are birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence. These four are the characteristics of conditioned phenomena. The dharma that possesses these is manifested as conditioned. The opposite is unconditioned. If birth and so on are also conditioned, will there be other births and so on? Yes, there is birth of birth and so on. For them, there is also birth of birth, aging of aging, abiding of abiding, and impermanence of impermanence, which are called the four concordant characteristics. If each has four characteristics, will it not be endless? It will not be endless. In this way, it engages with eight dharmas and one. The dharma itself belongs to the nature, and together with the eight concordant natures, nine are produced. Among them, birth produces eight other dharmas besides itself. Birth of birth only produces itself. Similarly, for abiding and so on, one should also say abiding and arising and decaying. Finished.
