Yes. The object of the eye here is the form of its own ground or the lower ground, not the form of the upper ground of the eye. The form of the upper ground can never be seen by the eye of the lower ground. Consciousness is also not of the upper ground, just like form. Its form, and also that of the body, in all cases, the object of the consciousness of the eye just mentioned is the form of the upper, lower, and one's own ground, and also the form and consciousness of the body in all cases. Just as this eye has been explained in detail, so is the ear. The body does not have an ear of the upper ground. The ear does not hear the sound of the upper ground. Consciousness is also, the sound is of this place. The body is also all. All three are, all are of their own ground. The elements of nose, tongue, and body, their body, object, and consciousness are all their own. After the general explanation, the specific designation is stated: the consciousness of the body is of the lower ground, and one's own ground is the body, the element of the body, and touch, which are always one's own ground. The consciousness of the body, some are of their own ground, such as those born in the desire realm and the first dhyana. Some are of the lower ground, such as those born in the second dhyana and so on. The mind is uncertain, sometimes it is the mind of the same ground as the body, the consciousness of the mind, and dharmas, and sometimes it is of the upper and lower grounds, therefore, the body of the five grounds can also enter into samadhi, and at the time of birth, all the grounds of mind and so on are present. This needs to be examined: which of the eighteen elements and the six consciousnesses should be used to understand? It is said: the consciousness of the two, the five external ones. Objects such as form are to be understood by the consciousnesses based on the eye and so on, and by the consciousness of the mind. The remaining thirteen elements are to be understood by the consciousness of the mind alone. Among the eighteen elements, which are permanent and which are impermanent? Unconditioned dharmas are permanent. Therefore, one part of the element of dharma is permanent, and the rest are impermanent. Faculty

Which are not? Which are not roots? Answer: Half of the Dharma and which are, within the twelve are said to be roots. Among them, what is called half of the Dharma refers to the eleven roots such as the life faculty, and the part of the faculty that makes the unknowing know, because it is a part of the Dharma realm. The twelve within are the five that are spoken of by their own names, such as the eye, and the mind faculty, which is the seven mind realms. The male and female faculties are a part of the body. The remaining five realms and the part of the Dharma realm are established as what is called non-roots. It is called the explanation of aggregates, realms, and sources, which is the first chapter of the Abhidharmakośa. In explaining the faculties, the meaning of the faculty is supreme sovereignty. Among these, which acts on what? The five act on four things. For the time being, the eye and ear each act on four things, because the blind and deaf are unsightly bodies, so in order to make the body beautiful, and in order to completely abandon the fatigue caused by seeing and hearing, thereby completely protecting the body; and to generate the consciousness of the eye and ear, that is, those with equality; and to act on the uncommon cause of seeing forms and hearing sounds, etc. The nose, tongue, and body are also the same as before, acting on making the body beautiful, and because they enjoy food, they act on completely protecting the body, and generating the consciousness that depends on oneself, and acting on experiencing one's own body as before. The four act on two. For the time being, the male and female faculties act on the differentiation and distinction of sentient beings, among which, the differentiation of sentient beings refers to female and male. The distinction of sentient beings refers to the difference in the shape of breasts, etc., voice, and behavior. Others say that it acts on the nature of defilement and purification, because without these, there is no non-discipline, etc. The life faculty acts on the connection of similar continuums and true grasping. The mind faculty acts on rebirth and being in accordance with one's own nature.
