Sa. It should be examined what is written in other Sutras. Regarding what is called 'Noble Lineage,' the introduction is in Sravasti. Monks, these four are the noble lineages, the supreme lineages, the lineages of kings, previously without affliction and without affliction, whether a monk, a Brahmin, a god, a demon, or the world including Brahma, none can make them afflicted. What are the four? Here, a monk is delighted with any Dharma garment, praises being delighted with any Dharma garment, and does not seek the nature that is not the cause of the Dharma garment. He is not arrogant because of the Dharma garment he has obtained, nor is he attached to the Dharma garments he has obtained, but enjoys it, not generating craving, attachment, desire, fainting, infatuation, and special infatuation, but seeing the faults, and enjoying it as he knows the purity of renunciation. Because the monk is wise and possesses mindfulness and awareness. This is called the second noble lineage of the previous monk. Just like Dharma garments, alms, bedding, and cushions are also the same. Furthermore, a monk is delighted with abandonment, and is delighted with abandonment, and is in accordance with being delighted with abandonment, and is delighted with meditation, and is delighted with meditation, and is in accordance with being delighted with meditation. He is not arrogant because of being delighted with abandonment and meditation. Because the monk possesses mindfulness and awareness. This is called the monk abiding in the previous noble lineage. The noble Hearer who is fully endowed with these four noble lineages, if he relies on and abides near the east, then displeasure will not harm him, but he himself harms displeasure. If he relies on and abides in the south, west, and north, then displeasure will not harm him, but he harms displeasure. What is the reason for that? Monks, the noble Hearer who possesses hearing can endure permission, but can endure displeasure. The steadfast cannot endure displeasure. The steadfast can endure pleasure. By this, he can abandon all desires and attachments. Who can prevent abandonment? Jambudvipa
