Moreover, because the body is heavy, it will circle and sit near the pillar or stake itself, and will abide there. Monks, this is an example I have made in order to understand the meaning, and this should be viewed in another way. Monks, the so-called "six creatures" is a euphemism for the six senses. "The pillar or stake is well bound" is a euphemism for mindfulness related to the body. Monks, if mindfulness related to the body is fully cultivated, practiced, and done repeatedly, then the eye will want to see pleasing forms, and will not become inconsistent with displeasing forms. The ear will want to hear pleasing sounds, and will not become inconsistent with displeasing sounds. The nose will want to smell pleasing odors, and will not become inconsistent with displeasing odors. The tongue will want to taste pleasing flavors, and will not become inconsistent with displeasing flavors. The body will want to touch pleasing tactile sensations, and will not become inconsistent with displeasing tactile sensations. The mind will want to discern pleasing dharmas, and will not become inconsistent with displeasing dharmas. Therefore, monks, one should train in this way: whenever mindfulness related to the body is fully cultivated, practiced, and done repeatedly, monks, one should train in this way. The Blessed One said that all things should be fully known and fully understood. In the verses contained in the Section on the Six Sense Spheres, from the fifth sutra of the eighth verse of the first section of the first chapter of the Treasury of Knowledge, "Other than the four aggregates," it is written: if one dharma has not been fully known and fully understood. Regarding "wisdom and consciousness are due to the same object": it is said and shown in the Middle Length Discourses that it existed previously. In the Mahaguhya Sutra, it is recited as follows: Venerable Shariputra, it is said to be wisdom, wisdom. Venerable Shariputra, what is wisdom? Venerable Mahaguhya fully knows and fully

Therefore it is called wisdom. What is it that is thoroughly understood? Just as it is, thoroughly understanding virtuous and non-virtuous dharmas, including those with faults and those without faults, inferior and superior, white and black, and thoroughly distinguishing dependent origination, therefore, the venerable Mahākauṣṭhila thoroughly understands, and because of this thorough understanding, it is called wisdom. Venerable Śāriputra, what is the consciousness that is called "consciousness"? Venerable Mahākauṣṭhila is conscious, and because of this consciousness, it is called consciousness. What is it that is conscious? Being conscious of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas, therefore, the venerable Mahākauṣṭhila is conscious, and because of this consciousness, it is called consciousness. Venerable Śāriputra, are these two dharmas, wisdom and consciousness, mixed or unmixed? Can any distinction or difference be found to distinguish these two dharmas separately? Venerable Mahākauṣṭhila, these two dharmas, wisdom and consciousness, are mixed, not unmixed, and no distinction or difference can be found to distinguish these two dharmas separately. Venerable Mahākauṣṭhila, these two dharmas, which are called wisdom and consciousness, are completely mixed, and these two dharmas cannot be distinguished separately, and no distinction or difference can be found. Why is that? Because whatever is thoroughly understood is consciousness, and whatever is consciousness is thoroughly understood, therefore these two dharmas are completely mixed, not unmixed, and no distinction or difference can be found to distinguish these two dharmas separately. Thus it was said. In the "Mother Sutra," the six places arising from the gathering of the six sense bases, here, from the perspective of the truth of origination, the Blessed One taught that it is explained as karma and existence. In the second chapter of the Abhidharmakośa, the passage written in the section "They do not exist in the unconditioned" should be consulted. Brahmin, everything exists.
