The ear is sound, the nose is smell, the tongue is taste, the body is touch, and the mind is scattered due to clinging to agreeable and disagreeable dharmas. The term "root of fruit" is another name for ignorance and craving for existence. Why? Because, O monks, if ignorance and craving for existence have been completely abandoned and fully known, like a palm tree with its head cut off, uprooted, made non-existent, and made subject to the law of non-arising in the future, this is called having completely eliminated and fully known the fruit and its root. What is called abiding in the mind and abiding correctly is to extract from that and that. For example, briefly speaking, the perversity of the door of the limb of the path of the collection of paths, that is, it comes from the third sutra of the seventh verse of the summary called "Summary Verse Seven," in the fourth chapter of the Abhidharmakosha. In the context of "Three kinds of immaculate form are spoken, because of increase and unmade path completion," one should refer to "abandonment is spoken in the water wheel." If one asks what is the feeling of happiness in the sutra, then one should refer to what comes from the end of the second verse of the summary of the door of the root of the collection of paths. That is, in the second chapter of this Abhidharmakosha, it has been explained that "whatever is not the tranquility of the body feeling is called the root of suffering." What is called happiness experienced by the body is extracted from that and that aspect of meditation in this way: He is detached from desire from joy, endowed with mindfulness and wisdom, and abides in equanimity, that is, what the noble ones say is happiness experienced by the body, endowed with mindfulness and equanimity. That is to say, he has cultivated and abides in the third meditation without joy. At what time, the noble Shravaka is extremely secluded, etc. The Blessed One went to stay for the rainy season in Jeta Grove in Anathapindika's Park in Shravasti. Then, the householder Anathapindika went to where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, he bowed to the feet of the Blessed One with his head and sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the Blessed One truly taught the householder Anathapindika with words of Dharma, truly encouraged him, truly praised him, truly...

and rejoiced. With Dharma-filled words, he correctly instructed in various ways, correctly encouraged, correctly praised, and correctly delighted them, and then remained silent. Then, the householder Anāthapiṇḍada rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, and, with palms joined, prostrated towards the Blessed One's location. He then addressed the Blessed One, saying: "Blessed One, please grant that I, along with the community of monks, may offer robes, alms food, bedding, seats, medicine for sickness, and the necessities of life for three months." The Blessed One remained silent to the householder Anāthapiṇḍada, indicating his consent. Then, the householder Anāthapiṇḍada, realizing that the Blessed One's silence indicated consent, bowed his head to the Blessed One's feet and departed. The Blessed One, along with the community of monks, was sustained by the householder Anāthapiṇḍada with robes, alms food, bedding, seats, medicine for sickness, and the necessities of life for three summer months. Then, after three summer months had passed, the householder Anāthapiṇḍada approached the Blessed One, bowed his head to the Blessed One's feet, and sat down to one side. As he sat to one side, the Blessed One spoke to the householder Anāthapiṇḍada, saying: "Householder, well done, well done. The Tathāgata, along with the community of monks, has been sustained by you with robes, alms food, bedding, seats, medicine for sickness, and the necessities of life for three summer months. Householder, in the future, you will achieve a particularly excellent result, leading to a higher state of bliss. Householder, do not merely rejoice in this, but strive to cultivate the bliss of solitude at all times, realizing it directly with your body, and abide in it. Thus, you should train." Then, the householder Anāthapiṇḍada, greatly pleased and delighted by the Blessed One's words, departed from the Blessed One's presence. At that time, the venerable Śāri
