Thus it is said that the mind is completely liberated from (afflictions). Regarding the matter of "desire completely acting," it comes from the fifth sutra of the ninth chapter of verses on discipline explained by the Buddha, in the second place of its Abhidhamma, in the context of "those are not in the unconditioned," it has already been written how it is "desire completely acting." Monks, regarding "all conditioned things are suffering," from the sixth of the king and the perfectly endowed assembly, the sutra of the one with matted hair quotes it thus: Monks, conditioned things are suffering, nirvana is peace. All things that arise from causes are suffering, and the cessation of things that arise from causes, their cutting off, their non-arising, and their non-connection with other sufferings, this is called the end of suffering. Monks, what is nirvana then? The cessation of suffering, peace, near to peace, becoming cool, disappearing, monks, this is called the place of peace. Like this, completely abandoning everything, the exhaustion of desire, being without disease, cessation, is called nirvana. Thus it is said. As it is said, in order to make the view completely pure, this is the path, there is no other. All conditioned things are impermanent, when one sees with wisdom, from that comes revulsion, this path is for the sake of ending suffering. All conditioned things are suffering, when one sees with wisdom, from that comes revulsion, this path is for the sake of ending suffering. All conditioned things are empty, when one sees with wisdom, from that comes revulsion, this path is for the sake of ending suffering. All conditioned things are without self, when one sees with wisdom, from that comes revulsion, this path is for the sake of ending suffering. To extract the thorn of desire, I have told you the path, the Tathagata is the proclaimer, you yourselves should practice it. To extract the thorn of desire, I have shown you the path, the Tathagata is the guide, you yourselves should practice it. To make the view completely pure, this is the path,

There is none. Those who accomplish it with meditation will abandon the bonds of Mara. Thus it was said. These six faculties are extremely tamed, and so on. The story begins when they were in ཉན (Nyan, a transliteration). Monks, if these six faculties are extremely untamed, unhidden, unguarded, unrestrained, and uncultivated, then suffering will arise in the future. What are the six? The eye faculty is untamed, unhidden, unguarded, unrestrained, and uncultivated, so suffering will arise in the future. The ear faculty, the nose faculty, the tongue faculty, the body faculty, monks, the mind faculty is untamed, unhidden, unguarded, unrestrained, and uncultivated, so suffering will arise in the future. Monks, if these six faculties are untamed, then suffering will arise in the future, and so on. Monks, ordinary beings who are not endowed with learning, when they see forms with their eyes, they grasp at the signs and the details. Because of this, worldly greed and displeasure arise in their minds, and sinful, unwholesome dharmas follow. If they do not restrain these and do not guard the eye faculty, they will not obtain the discipline of the eye faculty. With the ear they hear sounds, with the nose they smell odors, with the tongue they taste flavors, with the body they feel touches, and with the mind they discern dharmas. They grasp at the signs and the details, and so on, until they do not obtain the discipline of the mind faculty. Monks, in this way, these six faculties are untamed, and so on, until suffering will arise in the future. Monks, if these six faculties are extremely tamed, extremely hidden, extremely guarded, extremely restrained, and extremely cultivated, then suffering will not arise in the future. What are the six? Monks, the eye faculty is extremely tamed, extremely hidden, extremely guarded, extremely restrained, and extremely cultivated, so suffering will not arise in the future.

From the place called "Lava" will it change until future suffering no longer arises? Monks, noble hearers who are endowed with hearing, upon seeing forms with their eyes, do not grasp at characteristics or signs. Because of this, the mind does not follow worldly greed and displeasure, sinful and unwholesome dharmas, starting from "does not follow," and extensively, until "will not obtain the protection of the mind faculty." Monks, in this way, if these six faculties are well subdued and greatly guarded, starting from "called greatly guarded," until "future suffering will no longer arise," thus it was said. Similarly, regarding "this body has hair," etc., how should it be for the time being? In this very treasury place, from the sutra of cultivating the second limb of miraculous power, how does it transform into the perception of above and below, one should extract and view from there. Regarding the ten powers, from what arises from the ten powers, and the collection of paths, and extracting from the sutra of the edge of the door of power, in this very fifth chapter of the treasury place, the past and future should be cultivated, monks, if my hearers are subdued within, then the night will be especially excellent, one should view what is written in the sutra. Regarding the four fearlessnesses, the beginning is in Shravasti. Then, the Blessed One addressed the monks: Monks, these four are the fearlessnesses of the Tathagata, completely endowed with anything, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, vows in the place of the great and excellent assembly, turns the wheel of Dharma, and roars the lion's roar in the retinue. Which four? Alas, I say that I have attained complete enlightenment, but I have not attained complete enlightenment in this Dharma, whether it be a Shramana, or a Brahmin, or a god, or a demon, or Brahma, or anyone else, there is no valid reason to refute according to the Dharma. Like this, without a valid reason to refute, I have attained happiness, attained fearlessness, abide in fearlessness, vow in the place of the great and excellent assembly, turn the wheel of Dharma, and roar the lion's roar in the retinue. Alas, I say that I have exhausted the outflows.
