So, what is the complete understanding of the three meanings? It is that a monk goes to a monastery, or under a tree, or to an empty house, and properly and truly understands the aggregates, elements, and sense bases. Monks, in this way, a monk will be able to completely understand the three meanings. Monks, a monk who is skilled in the seven places and completely understands the three meanings will quickly attain the exhaustion of defilements in this Dharma and Vinaya. I have declared this, and it has been extensively explained." Furthermore, regarding what is called "one who is endowed with views" in the sutra, the explanation of the "Many Elements Sutra" cites the following: "This is not a possibility, nor is there an opportunity, that one who is endowed with views would kill his mother, father, or an Arhat, or cause a schism in the Sangha, or with malicious intent draw blood from the body of the Tathagata. This is not possible." "However, it is possible for an ordinary person." "This is not a possibility, nor is there an opportunity, that one who is endowed with views would intentionally kill a living being belonging to the animal realm, or intentionally completely transgress the precepts, or destroy the precepts. This is not possible." "Relying on external teachers, considering external individuals as sources of merit, saying to monks or Brahmins, 'These people know what should be known, and see what should be seen,' observing and contemplating with external monks and Brahmins as objects, believing that auspiciousness and goodness are pure, this will lead to the realization of the eighth existence, this is not possible." "However, it is possible for an ordinary person," it is said. So, what are the "seven noble pursuits" mentioned in the sutra? It is mentioned in the fifth sutra of the seventh section of the Middle Length Discourses, and it has already been written in the third chapter of the Abhidharma-kosa that there is a pursuit when there is an intermediate existence. So, who is the noble person mentioned in the sutra? The beginning of the story is in Shravasti. Monks, one should rely on noble persons, and even more noble persons than noble persons. Listen well.

Please remember and I will speak. What is a noble person? One who possesses the right view of learning, one who possesses the right thought of learning, one who possesses the right speech of learning, one who possesses the right action of learning, one who possesses the right livelihood of learning, one who possesses the right effort of learning, one who possesses the right mindfulness of learning, and one who possesses the right concentration of learning, this is called a noble person. What is a noble person among noble persons? One who possesses the right view of non-learning, up to one who possesses the right concentration of non-learning, this is called a noble person among noble persons. Monks, as I have said, one should rely on a noble person, and a noble person among noble persons, I have explained it in detail. Now, regarding the matter of "Śakra's Questions," in the third section of the "Śakra's Questions Sutra" with verses and melodies, it is mentioned: Venerable one, I think to myself, alas, after I die and transmigrate from here, I will share the same fate as humans, and I will become wealthy, possessing great wealth and enjoyment, possessing abundant property and close associates, possessing great autonomy, possessing abundant wealth, grains, gold, fine cloths, vessels, and treasures, possessing abundant male servants, female servants, and laborers, possessing abundant companions, friends, relatives, and in-laws, and share the same fate as them. There, I will grow up, my senses will be complete, I will give alms, accumulate merit, shave my hair and beard, wear monastic robes, and with faith, I will renounce the household life correctly and solely. Venerable one, I should abide in wisdom, and if I can attain omniscience, and after attaining omniscience, I can put an end to suffering, I should abide in wisdom. If I cannot attain omniscience, and I ultimately decline, then I will become a celestial being with form, born of mind, with complete and undiminished senses, possessing all limbs and details, beautiful in color and shape, possessing my own light, traveling unhindered in the sky, eating joy and having joy as food, with a long life.
