It became beautiful and pleasing to the eye. What did she do that she was born wrapped in white clothes and realized the state of an Arhat? The Blessed One said: Monks, the deeds done and accumulated by the white woman in her previous life, each obtained, are as close as a river. Who else will experience what others have done and accumulated? Monks, the deeds done and accumulated will not ripen in the external earth element, nor will they ripen in the water, fire, and wind elements. However, the deeds done and accumulated will ripen in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases that are grasped. The deeds of sentient beings will not be lost even after hundreds of kalpas. When they gather and the time arrives, they will naturally become fruits. Monks, in the past, in this very fortunate kalpa, when beings lived to be twenty thousand years old, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the unsurpassed one, the tamer of beings, the charioteer, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One named Light Protector appeared in the world. He resided and dwelt in the Deer Park of the Sage Speaker in the city of Varanasi. At that time, the wife of a wealthy man, faithful, of good nature, and with virtuous thoughts, came to the Deer Park of the Sage Speaker for some business. Then, seeing the Buddha, the Blessed One, whose body was adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great being and the eighty minor marks, shining more brilliantly than a thousand suns, radiating light like a mountain of jewels, the Blessed One worthy of being seen, she bowed her head at his feet and sat to one side to listen to the Dharma. Then, the Blessed One, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light Protector, taught the Dharma, and she developed great faith in the Blessed One, offered food to the Blessed One and the Sangha of monks, and offered robes to the Sangha of monks. Gradually, after receiving permission from her parents, she renounced in the teachings of that Blessed One. Monks, what do you think?

The rich man's wife was the Bhikkhuni White Robe.
