After seeing this, he said, "Ema!" This means, "Alas, this subduer of demons is truly ignorant of measure." After saying this, the perfectly complete Buddha, the subduer of demons, immediately after saying "Ema," his own body fell into the great hell of torment. Now, how should we understand the statement that one who commits and accumulates the five inexpiable sins is immediately reborn in the hell of sentient beings? The five inexpiable sins are when the topic is together. Whichever of these five inexpiable sins one commits and accumulates, due to those causes and conditions, one will be reborn in hell immediately after the body is destroyed. What are the five? Killing the mother, killing the father, killing an Arhat, causing dissension in the Sangha, and drawing blood from the body of the Tathagata with evil intent. Thus the Blessed One taught. In the middle it says, "You have no provisions for the journey." How should this verse be understood? The topic is when listening. Then, another Brahmin, old and decrepit, afflicted with disease, committed evil deeds, acted violently, was a sinner, did non-meritorious deeds, did not do good, did not make the fearful fearless, and did not seek refuge, came near to where the Blessed One was. Having come near, together with the Blessed One (omitting the middle part) made fearless. Sitting on one side, the Brahmin said this to the Blessed One: "Gautama, I, a Brahmin, am old and decrepit, afflicted with disease, have committed evil deeds, acted violently, am a sinner, have not done meritorious deeds, have not made the fearful fearless, and have not sought refuge. When I die and pass away in the next world, what is an island? What is refuge? What is protection? What is the Dharma that can become a support? Please, Blessed One Gautama, explain it well." Brahmin, it is true that you are old and decrepit, afflicted with disease, have committed evil deeds, have acted violently, are a sinner, have not done meritorious deeds, and have not made the fearful fearless. Brahmin, these worlds are led by the mind, just like this, led by old age. Brahmin, the world is led in this way, this

Behold, whatever aging man, having well-used his body with autonomy, or having well-used his speech, or having well-used his mind, after the destruction of his body and death, becomes a support, or an island, or a refuge, or a protector, or a friend, such a thing does not exist in all of your entirety. Therefore, Brahmin, if you practice well with your body, practice well with your speech, and practice well with your mind, then you will transcend the time beyond and become a support, an island, a refuge, a protector, and a friend. The Blessed One spoke thus, and the Sugata, having spoken thus, the Teacher further spoke thus: Brahmin, age has taken away, old age and sickness, you have gone to the presence of the Lord of Death. In between, you have no place to stay, and you have no provisions for the road. Having become a vessel of wisdom, exert great effort, free from defilement and free from limbs, so that birth, old age, and death will not occur again. Make yourself an island. Then, that Brahmin was exceedingly pleased with what the Blessed One had said, and after rejoicing, he departed from the presence of the Blessed One. Bodhisattvas are like young boys, endowed with marks and beauties. The basis of this discourse is in Shravasti. Then the Blessed One called out to the monks, saying: Monks, the Great Man who possesses the thirty-two marks of a Great Man has two destinies, and no other. If he remains in the household, he will become a Wheel-Turning King, victorious over the four quarters, possessing Dharma, a king of Dharma, possessing the seven precious things. These seven precious things will appear in this way: the Precious Wheel, the Precious Elephant, the Precious Horse, the Precious Jewel, the Precious Woman, the Precious Householder, and the seventh is the Precious General. Moreover, the son is brave and courageous, possessing the most excellent form, capable of utterly destroying the enemy's army.

I shall be completely fulfilled, and this entire earth, up to the edge of the ocean, will be without thorns, without harm, without sticks and weapons, and will be victorious and abide by the Dharma. If one shaves his hair and beard, puts on robes, and with faith, for the sake of pure truth, goes forth from home to homelessness, then the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, will be proclaimed in the world. The destination of a great man endowed with the thirty-two marks of a great man is only two. There is no other possibility. If he abides in the home, he will become a wheel-turning king, victorious over the four quarters, endowed with righteousness, a king of Dharma, possessing the seven precious things. His seven precious things are: the precious wheel, the precious elephant, the precious horse, the precious jewel, the precious woman, the precious householder, and the seventh is the precious general. He will have a thousand sons who are heroic, brave, with excellent limbs, and able to destroy the enemy's army. I shall be completely fulfilled, and this entire earth, up to the edge of the ocean, will be without harm, without harm, without sticks and weapons, and will be victorious and abide by the Dharma. If one shaves his hair and beard, puts on robes, and with faith, for the sake of pure truth, goes forth from home to homelessness, then the name of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, will be proclaimed in the world. What are those? Venerable ones, the Blessed One is the root of the Dharma, the Dharma originates from the Blessed One, and depends on the Blessed One. May the Blessed One speak to the monks. The monks will hear and hold it. Therefore, monks, listen well and keep it in mind, and I will speak. Monks, great men are well-established in their feet. Because the feet of the great man are well-established, the two feet of the great man walk evenly. This is a characteristic of a great man. Underneath the soles of the feet are wheels with a thousand spokes.
