Hundreds of thousands of beings pleaded with the king and were freed from death. After some time, when someone was about to be executed by the king, he said, "Bring the guide here, I want to speak to him and have him see." After a while, the king entered that man's room and asked, "Where is the guide?" The man replied, "He has already gone out." After a while, the person about to be executed by the king pleaded with the guide, and the king said, "I give him to you." From then on, he became weary and renounced, realizing the Bodhi of a Pratyekabuddha. The guide was revered and honored by all as long as he lived, and prayed. This guide is what the Victorious One taught. Due to the ripening of that karma, he was freed from various causes of harm and was not harmed by others' proximity. What did the excellent son of the wealthy man do? One was burned in the potter's house, the second was eaten by dogs in the enclosure, and the third was burned by birds. Monks, listen to this, in the past, in a past time, two porters came to Varanasi to do business. After that, two more came, and after inquiring about their names and clans in detail, they became united and had the same property. One went to Varanasi and lived on food, and three did business. After a while, they heard that he had offered a meal to a Pratyekabuddha, and they became angry and said, "If that renunciate were under my control, I would burn him in the potter's kiln." The second one said, "If that renunciate were under my control, I would give him alive to the dogs in the enclosure." The third one said, "I will burn him in the bird's oven." Whatever words were spoken, their results fully ripened. The one who offered food to the Pratyekabuddha is what the Victorious One taught. As for taking the Dharma, as the Victorious One taught, even if the mother abandoned him in the cemetery, because he was worthy of seeing the truth, it was as if he had not died. As for the excellent one, in Rajagriha there was a venerable one named Excellent One, and the venerable...

Shariputra stayed together. He entered the royal palace for alms, where there was a man named the best of the wealthy. He had a servant named the trustworthy thief. The wealthy man went to the garden and instructed the trustworthy thief servant, saying, "Go and bring something from the house." He was deceived by a prostitute and cut off the two arms of the wealthy man's wife for bracelets. People chased him and put the two arms in his bowl. Until King Ajatasatru placed the supreme lamp. When the holy Shariputra was dwelling on the lamp, he received instruction, became truly weary, and attained the state of Arhat. Carrying the lamp, he visibly soared into the sky. This is how the story unfolded in detail. In the city of Reeds, a wealthy man had a son and a daughter. The two of them were very harmonious with each other. When the two of them were playing, they became hungry and went to their mother, saying, "Mother, we are hungry, please give us food." The mother, tired from asking relatives everywhere, said, "Go and take it yourselves." The son said, "Have you placed the lamp?" The daughter said, "Have you cut off two arms? Why don't you give us food?" This is how the story unfolded in detail, up to the best ordination in the teachings of the Blessed One Kashyapa. Named Ganga-datta, in Varanasi, the son of a wealthy man named Ganga-datta, abundant and vast in wealth, people were clearly delighted, possessing splendor, fame, renown, completely pure wisdom, and people, sudden arrivals, one's own relatives, gods, ascetics, Brahmins, etc., had heard his name. At that time, once, in order to experience the joy of the garden, he went to Varanasi. While wandering around outside, he went to the place where the Buddha, the Blessed One, turned the wheel of Dharma, a pleasant and very delightful place, known as the place where the great sage assembly turned the wheel of Dharma. He was very amazed and astonished, and felt joy.
