Then he knelt on one knee, folded his palms towards where the Blessed One was, and said to the Blessed One: "Venerable, how happy is the heavenly realm?" "Bhikkhu, I will tell you so that you can understand it easily." "Venerable, is there a little simile?" "Bhikkhu, there is." Then the Blessed One said to the bhikkhu: "Bhikkhu, for example, a wheel-turning king who possesses the seven precious things, who has obtained the power to rule all four castes, who is the king, power, and master of the four continents, is he very happy and content?" "Venerable, even possessing one precious thing, ruling one person, being the king, power, and master of one continent, is already very happy and content, let alone a wheel-turning king?" Then the Blessed One picked up a speck of dust on the tip of his fingernail and said to the bhikkhu: "Bhikkhu, what do you think? Is this speck of dust on the tip of my fingernail more, or is the dust on the great earth more?" "Venerable, this speck of dust on the tip of the fingernail is little, very little, extremely little. Blessed One, it cannot even be compared to the dust of the great earth, not to one in a hundred, not to one in a thousand, not to one in a hundred thousand, it cannot be counted, it cannot be measured, it cannot be compared, nor can it be compared as a cause." "Bhikkhu, just as the dust on the tip of the fingernail cannot be compared to the dust on the great earth, not to one in a hundred, not to one in a thousand, not to one in a hundred thousand, it cannot be counted, it cannot be measured, it cannot be compared, nor can it be compared as a cause, so too, the happiness of a wheel-turning king who possesses the seven precious things, who rules the four continents, who has power and becomes king and master, cannot be compared to the happiness of the gods, not to one in a hundred, not to one in a thousand, not to one in a hundred thousand, it cannot be counted, it cannot be measured, it cannot be compared, nor can it be compared as a cause." "What is the reason for that? Because there is a heavenly realm called the six sense spheres, and the beings born there, whatever sights they see with their eyes are pleasing, and they do not see unpleasant sights.

It does not become ignorance, but it becomes joyful, it does not become unpleasant. It becomes the form of joy, it does not become the form of displeasure. It becomes the form of extreme joy, it does not become the form of displeasure. Therefore, complete happiness and mental happiness can be distinguished and known. With the ear, sound; with the nose, smell; with the tongue, taste; with the body, touch; with the mind, if one discerns phenomena, one will know what is pleasing, not what is displeasing, it becomes the form of joy, it is not the form of displeasure. It becomes the form of extreme joy, it is not the form of extreme displeasure. Therefore, complete happiness and mental happiness will be experienced separately. Bhikshus, if that wise one, from that place, if he dies and transmigrates, and comes here to share the same fate as humans, then in whatever family he is born, he will become rich and wealthy, with great enjoyment, possessing much property, with independence, filled with treasures of wealth, grain, jewels, and gold, with many male and female servants and laborers, many friends, loved ones, and relatives, and many marriage alliances, he will be born into a family with such a shared destiny. What is called "attainment" is having "obtained." The beginning of the story is in Shravasti. Bhikshus, if one possesses one dharma, there is no opportunity to cultivate the four mindfulnesses, that is, not having obtained. Bhikshus, if one possesses not having obtained, there is no opportunity to practice the four mindfulnesses. Bhikshus, if one possesses one dharma, there is an opportunity to cultivate the four mindfulnesses, that is, having obtained. If one possesses having obtained, there is the opportunity to practice the four mindfulnesses.

As explained in the Net Sutra, and how the sixty-two views in the third chapter of the Abhidharmakosha are derived from the Brahma Net Sutra, for example: Monks, some ascetics and Brahmins in the past aeon say that these two things, self and world, arose without cause and were born without cause, and they proclaim this. What do those ascetics and Brahmins realize and rely on to proclaim that these two things, self and world, arose without cause and were born without cause? Monks, in the realm of form, there are gods called non-perceiving beings. When those beings arise consciousness, they die from that place and are reborn. Then, another being exhausts his life and karma, dies from that place and is reborn, coming to the same state as those who are unconscious. He grows up, his senses mature, he shaves his hair and beard, puts on Dharma robes, and with faith, he goes forth from home to homelessness. Then, in a solitary place, under a tree, or in an empty house, through the cause of complete longing, the cause of abandonment, the cause of repeated practice, and the cause of proper attention, how does he calm his mind, remember the consciousness that arose earlier, and see with such a peaceful samadhi? He thinks like this: I and this world arose without cause, and likewise, I and this world were born without cause. I was not born before, but now I am truly born. Monks, the first case is, what did he realize, rely on, and take as an object, and in the past aeon proclaim that I and the world arose without cause, and I and the world were born without cause. For a while, the thought of not breaking the lotus posture will not arise, because of this reason, etc. From the sixth root of the Vinaya Matters, it is derived like this: After the Bodhisattva praised the black dragon king, he faced the Vajra Throne and sat down, and he thought like this: I should sit on the laid grass.
