Whatever is external wind and counted as wind, and also moving fields that are not trunks and not grasped, this is called the external wind element. Bhikshu, for that internal self's wind element and the external self's wind element, those are combined into one, knowing that these are elements, merely elements, are the various distinctions of elements, and then all those are not mine, not me, not those me, seeing with wisdom as it is, the mind becomes detached from desire from the wind element, this is called Bhikshu wise and cautious. What is the space element? Bhikshu, the space element is of two kinds, namely the internal self and the external. There is also the internal self's space element, and there is also the external self's space element. What is the internal self's space? Whatever in this body, the internal self is counted as space and space, not covered and pervaded by skin and flesh and blood, what is that? The cavity of the eye, the cavity of the ear, the cavity of the nose, the hole of the mouth, the door of the mouth, the throat and the vein of the throat, or, with what is eaten, where does it reside? With what is eaten, drunk, tasted, what makes them fall down? Whatever else in this body, the internal self is counted as space, not covered and pervaded by flesh and skin and blood, this is called the internal self's space element. What is the external self's space element? Whatever is external space, becomes space, not covered and pervaded by form, this is called the external space element. Bhikshu, for that internal self's space element and the external self's space element, those are combined into one, knowing that these are elements, merely elements, are the various distinctions of elements, and then all those are not mine, not me, not those me, seeing with wisdom as it is, the mind becomes detached from desire from the space element, this is called Bhikshu wise and cautious. Bhikshu, whoever is detached from desire and liberated from these five elements, and the distinctive consciousness

Pure and definite, truly knowing and fully knowing. How does one truly know? Truly knowing the feeling of pleasure, truly knowing the feeling of suffering, truly knowing the feeling of joy, truly knowing the feeling of displeasure, truly knowing the feeling of equanimity. How does one truly know the feeling of pleasure? It is the feeling of pleasure that arises dependent on the contact that will be experienced as pleasure. When experiencing the feeling of pleasure, one truly knows that one is experiencing the feeling of pleasure. Then, that very contact that will be experienced as pleasure ceases, and the feeling of pleasure that arises dependent on the contact that will be experienced as pleasure also ceases, and approaches cessation, becomes cool, and vanishes. Just like the feeling of pleasure, the feeling of suffering, the feeling of joy, the feeling of displeasure, and the equanimity that arises dependent on the contact that will be experienced as equanimity. When experiencing equanimity, one truly knows that one is experiencing equanimity. Then, that very contact that will be experienced as equanimity ceases, and the equanimity that arises dependent on the contact that will be experienced as equanimity also ceases, and approaches cessation, becomes cool, and will vanish. He will think thus: From what cause does this feeling of pleasure arise? What is its origin? What is its birth? From what does it thoroughly arise? He will also think thus: The cause of this feeling of pleasure is contact, its origin is contact, its birth is contact, it thoroughly arises from contact. Because contact arises, therefore that and that feeling, that and that will also arise. Because contact ceases, therefore that and that feeling, that and that will also cease, approach cessation, become cool, and vanish. For example, when two pieces of wood come together, rub, and meet, heat and fire will arise. If the two pieces of wood do not come together, or if neither exists, it will not arise, will not appear, and will become cool. Just like the wood, because contact arises, therefore that and that feeling, that and that will also arise. Because contact ceases, therefore that and that feeling, that and that will also cease, approach cessation, become cool, and vanish. For what does a monk feel
