This is the summary of the sutra on the exposition of the Dharma of the six elements. Bhikshus, it is said that "this person is of the six elements," and now a brief explanation of its detailed explanation will be given. What are the six elements? They are: the earth element, the water element, the fire element, the wind element, the space element, and the consciousness element. Bhikshus, it is said that "this person is of the six elements," and I have explained it in detail. It is said that "this person is of the six sense spheres of contact," and now a brief explanation of its detailed explanation will be given. What are the six sense spheres of contact? They are: from the contact arising from the gathering of the eye for seeing forms; and the ear and sound; the nose and smell; the tongue and taste; the body and touch; and for knowing the Dharma, the contact arising from the gathering of the mind. Bhikshus, it is said that "this person is of the six sense spheres of contact," and I have explained it in detail. Bhikshus, it is said that "this person is of the eighteen mental activities," and now a brief explanation of its detailed explanation will be given. What are the eighteen mental activities? They are: six kinds of pleasant mental activities, six kinds of unpleasant mental activities, and six kinds of neutral mental activities. What are the six kinds of pleasant mental activities? And the ear and sound; the nose and smell; the tongue and taste; the body and touch; and after the mind knows the Dharmas, they engage in pleasant mental activities towards the Dharmas of pleasant objects. What are the six kinds of unpleasant mental activities? Bhikshus, for this person, after the eyes see forms, they engage in unpleasant mental activities towards the forms of unpleasant objects. Nose and sound, nose and smell, tongue and taste, body and touch, and the dharmas of mind, having fully understood, one draws near to the dharmas of the place of equanimity. Bhikshu, for him, there are six pleasant near-goings, six unpleasant near-goings, and six equanimous near-goings. If these six equanimous near-goings are combined, they become eighteen near-goings of consciousness. Bhikshu, this person has eighteen near-goings of consciousness, which I have explained in detail. Bhikshu, this person is the fourth blessing, and I will speak a little about the detailed explanation of this. What are the blessings? They are the blessing of wisdom, the blessing of truth, the blessing of giving, and the blessing of peace. Bhikshu, this person is the fourth blessing, which I have explained in detail. Therefore, this is an admonition: do not be careless with wisdom, protect the truth, extensively practice giving, and rely on the path of liberation. I will speak a little about the detailed explanation of this. Bhikshu, how can one not be careless with wisdom? Bhikshu, for this person, one should separately contemplate the elements of this body, that this body has the earth element, water element, fire element, wind element, space element, and consciousness element, thus separately contemplating. What is the earth element? Bhikshu, the earth element is of two kinds, internal and external. There is an internal earth element, and there is also an external earth element. What is the internal earth element? The internal nature is solid, hard, dense, and clinging. What is that? For example, hair, body hair, nails, teeth, dust, dirt, flesh, bones, tendons, veins, heart, lungs, intestines, spleen, stomach, large intestine, abdomen, bladder, and so on. Whatever else in this body is of an internal nature that is solid, hard, dense, and clinging, this is called the earth element of internal nature. The external...
